virus?

ok, so my systems going like shit, so i open up my processes to see whats going on, and there is this process, called 'merarj.exe' thats using a shitload of cpu usage (13-15% while everything else is at 0 or 1) and seeing how im a computer idiot, i was wondering if this was maybe a virus of sorts that i should end? any help is wonderous

its not listed as a virus process on symantec's site...but still could be

do a computer search for that file. whatever folder it is in will give u more information whether it is something u wanted or not.

Run if you#re using XP, run 'msconfig' and disable the process in Startup - should fix it.

naw just find whatever files accociated with it and delete them... it will either turn out perfect or extremely bad.

download and use spybot search and destroy, adaware, and run trend micros house call (its an online virus scanner http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

also go through al lthe programs in the add/remove programs in your control panel, and get rid of anything you dont use, or dont know what it is.

out of the 5 things given to you^ i would suggest spy bot search and destroy because it pizzowns, and i would also look in what folder it is in by searching, incase its a virus.

you don't even know what it is yet. running all those programs may do nothing at all.

find out what it is first. if it is a good program, determine why it is causing problems. if it is a bad program, then do all the ad-aware and spybot crap

umm yea... i think it was really quite necessary to my system.... internets not exactly working, im not sure if this is gonna post, and the norton anti virus that usually scans in 15 mintues has been scanning for about 2 hours... and its about half done

actually it probably had something to do witht he (currently) 13 trojans that a FREE virus scanner found.... oh yea... AntiVir is my savior

i had a virus once but i partioned my hard drive and moved everything out of it scept for the virus then formated the drive
