Video from Penn State celebrations after Osama Bin Laden's Death

A few days ago I uploaded this video of the celebration at Penn State University after the news of Osama Bin Laden's death.

The video is nearing 20,000 views after only 2 days and has sparked a huge political debate in the comments. I want to see how NS feels about this. Were we wrong in celebrating the death of one of the world's most evil and wanted villains? We were not only celebrating this accomplishment, but we were also celebrating the life of everyone who gave the ultimate sacrifice to make this happen.

What are your thoughts?

Yeah, unfortunately I couldn't get a good vantage point being on the street. I wish I could have got into one of those apartments.

I've heard estimates around the 15,000 person range. It even extended a ways behind this picture.

Have you EVER watched a news broadcast? Ever?

If so, you would have seen footage of people in the Middle East revelling in, and celebrating every time they kill coalition troops. Literally hundreds of people will routinely take to the streets, burning US flags, and repeat the time tested "Death to the West" chant.

I neither condone nor condemn the response of the people in the video. But you are totally, totally wrong.

do you feel the need for remorse about a nother human death? you know at first i though i did, then after i thought about it, i regretted not going into worcester and getting hammered and scream USA over and over again. Im not the biggest patriot out there, but fuck osama, im glad shes living in a pineapple under the sea, and im glad enough to party about it.

Here's the thing. Some people are arguing that the U.S. shouldn't celebrate Osama's death because it is cruel and inhumane to celebrate the death of a human no matter who it is and that such celebrations make the us no different from the bad guys.

Thing is, there is a difference. When Al-Qaeda and its sympathizers celebrate death, they are celebrating the unjustified slaughter of innocent lives. With Osama's death, we are celebrating the fact that an evil, merciless man who has been responsible for causing injury, death and destruction to thousands of people all over the world for the past 15-20 years has been killed.

A lot of people can sleep a little easier now and there is one less sicko on this earth. I for one, don't mind a little celebration. Stock up to Penn State for knowing how to have a good 'ol 'merican street party.

Look I'm glad he's dead and all too, but look at the coin from the other side.

If we had some world power nation dabbling in all our shit and using our own people to fight for their agenda, then some fella rose up and started a grassroots revolution against them. We'd probably call the guy a damned hero and god amongst men. Since we're the ones he's fighting though he's the great satan on earth. Since he's contrary to our beliefs, we're right and he's wrong of course.

I'm not for intentionally killing innocents or terrorism, but if the shoe was on the other foot we'd have a much different opinion of him.

I personally do not rejoice regarding his death, however I do praise the victory and justice that comes along with his capture, be it dead or alive, I would celebrate it the same.

It's a great day to be an American that's for damn sure. I think the problem is is that 9/11 is so far in the back of people's minds they have forgotten just how bad that day really was. Osama wasn't just an enemy of America but to humanity in general. The gov't has put in too much money and effort for a victory like this to not be celebrated. AMERICA, FUCK YEA!

Colleges are ridiculous. I don't know if osama's death is that exciting... If it meant the war on terror was over and all the troops were coming home this week then I would understand the cheering.

After reading osama's speech transcript that someone posted on here the other day I look at him a bit differently. The man definitely had a few good points on American oppression. Not that I endorse the attacks on 9/11 or justify them in anyway.

i garentee if we killed osama right after 9/11, every american would not have a problem at all he is dead. The bottom line, he s the worlds most dangerous terrorist and killed thousands of americans. He deserved to die and its a great victory and closing for 9/11 and the people who lost their lives.
