Advantages of a camera mounted on a pole

I was wondering what are the advantages of having your cam mounted onto a pole instead of the helmet POV.

Are you using it for filming yourself or other people? If your using a pole mount with the cam facing back at you it makes really cool perspective, but you can't always do the best tricks when you are holding your pole like that. Using a polemount for filming others will help you get closer to the skier, and thats pretty much it.
