The college I transferred to this semester uses the ACS test instead of a department made test. The ACS has a bunch of mad scientists making their problems. 75 multiple choice questions with 3 wrong answers for each question that you can easily get if you make a common mistake. They make you apply chemistry knowledge way more than any professor made questions I've seen.
Took it last year. Thing is a bitch. My lab partner and I studied a collective 31 hours for it. Our instructor was really cool about how he used the grades though. He would take our highest number, be it raw score, percentage, or percentile as our grade. I never went to get my results from him (because it was a whole summer later and I forgot) but I got a B in the class so I must have got a high C or B on the exam. Just put shitloads of time into it and take the workbook study guide seriously and you'll be fine.
Yeah totally but you just have to deal with shit sometimes. The amount of time I put into organic last quarter only to get a C- (56% on a curved scale) and end up retaking it, was ridiculous. But I mean, you have to keep it in perspective about where you are going, for me it's med school so sooner or later I will get there, even if not after 4 years maybe. Makes you hate the kids that get the stuff naturally though, when you work forever and get straight B's though, but just keep it real and do your shit I guess. And don't miss out on having a social life, because I got B's without one and I get B's with one haha.
