i have recently bought the 2010 stepups to find that these bases drain wax like no other ive skiied, all ive ever used was regular parrifin wax from my grocery store but i figure i may need to switch if i still want to clear bigger jumps by the end of the day. whats your experence NS, and what would you reccomend.
i'd hate to break it to you but your extruded base on your stepups isnt going to hold wax, regardless of what wax it is. No matter what they are going to be slow, so throw on some rub on wax on days you feel like clearing jumps. Extruded bases dont absorb wax
You have extruded bases, meaning your base is not going to hold hot wax (read: hot waxing your skis is a waste of time). Your best bet is to go buy some Maxi Glide. It is designed for extruded bases, but since your bases cannot absorb wax like a sintered base can, it only lasts a run or two.
I would also make sure your bases have the correct pattern for the seasonal conditions (there are patterns for hard/cold snow, and wet/soft snow) and this helps prevent suction tremendously.
