Why were there only 4 dudes in bin laden's compound?

they say they were there for 40 minutes and had to fight their way through the stories to get to bin laden, but then say that only 4 or so people got their asses shot.. why would there be so few people surrounding bin laden?

and no, this is not a conspiracy theory thread.. just a curious question

I could be wrong, but I don't think there is going to be a reward given out because it was the military that killed him.

Adding on to what someone else said, having a house with 20 armed guards would attract attention. Also, Osama's "compound" used to be an ordinary house used by a family of four or five. Adding more people would put a strain on the sewer system, and draw unwanted attention.

-they didnt know exactly how many people there where in the house

-didnt know what kind of weapons the terrorists held.

-had to make sure every room was clear (no one hiding/waiting to flank them), also they would also want to check for boobytraps

-people who have no fear of death are unpredictable and very good at fighting.

- wanted to surround the building so that he wouldn't escape

- terrorists where in a fortified position, 4 guys could easily take out all 40 if they where in a good position and the attacking force just "charged" in.

I'd imagine that when the Pakistanis heard the choppers flying super low overhead, they knew exactly what was happening. Then when they heard gunshots, they were absolutely sure.

They probably knew Osama was there the whole time, but just turned a blind eye to it. Once the choppers came, I guarantee you no one was going to be anywhere fucking near there. None of them wanted to stand between a team of highly trained navy seals that could kill your sorry ass before you knew what hit you, and the world's most wanted terrorist. Those seals did not give a flying fuck what was in their way and I would venture to guess they were ready to shoot anyone and anything that gave them any surprises.

I can not believe that it took america almost nine years to kill this bastard. but its funny how it took obama like half of his time as president. bush couldn't do it in eight years!

Here is another thought what if one of the navy seals who breached his house/stronghold had a go pro on and than they gave the footy to the media. That would be so filthy!

Correct me off im wrong, but I've heard that this attack has been in the works since August? Also, I have heard that he was killed 1 to 2 weeks ago, but that didn't release it until the did a Mitochondrial DNA test using his brain, to link it to his dead sister. But i could be wrong haha.

to reiterate or clarify some points

Note: This is what I am hearing and what my naval science instructor told the class. So some info may be slightly skewed.

-obviously, OBL is the head symbolic figure of al qaeda
-Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the 9/11 mastermind, was captured a while back. Go back to pre-2007. He was sent to Gitmo, tortured, and spilled the beans on OBL's courier. Since 2007, the CIA has been gathering intelligence and recon (all circumstantial, but quite definitive). Work paid off and courier after courier, the CIA was finally able to link the courier system to OBL in August of 2010 (8 months ago). Further intelligence and recon was gathered. Did some tracking and eventually found him to be in Pakistan.
-Since last week, planning has occurred with the CIA and JSOC.
-They have been finalizing the details - dotting I's crossing T's - and performing assault drills with mock-ups.

The Compound
-Abbottabad, Pakistan
-the area is relatively affluent, with lots of retired military; your professional doctors and engineers, the area was a military town with many military and intelligence agencies; this raises suspicion, but it really is just a small suburban town
-it has 12- to 18-foot walls topped with barbed wire

The Operation
-two assault helicopters dropped in, dropping two team of JSOC members - Navy Seals
-from my own knowledge, a single team is either 8-10 with a squad leader
-moved in from the south and attacked from two vantage points
-killed 4, arrested the rest
-soldiers did provide live feed to Obama and some of his staff
-soldiers in fact do use ContourHDs; GoPro is too big

Burial
-buried at sea for reasons - don't want worshippers to create shrines, don't want people to search for the body
-buried within the required 24 hour period that their culture practices

Other Points
-the whole operation was documented with photographs and video; most likely the media will not be released for a while

because it's in the suburbs and you don't want 50 huge guys with ak's running around. Remeber he was still in "hiding". Plus i'm sure the 4 guys were highly trained.
