What has Pollard done to the lens of this GoPro? Cling-film? Clear tape? New prototype from GoPro?

he either got rid of the wide angle housing, put a big ol' uv filter on it, or wrekced his lens casing and is too cheap to buy a new one

perhaps DIY uv filter or some other filter?

go pros produce some weird images in difficult light, decent filters could def. improve the footage

click on the picture, to make it bigger, then look at the lens. its just a nice duct tape job with some other sort of lens cover

not a uv filter, a polarizer would make much more sense, to get detail back in the snow, im sure pollard is a detail whore when it comes to his videos

^^yeah, polarizer is what i meant, uv filter is what i said....

polarizer seriously makes a lot of sense for the gopro....

It sure doesn't look like the 160 degree (I think it is) fish-eye that comes standard with the case but it looks cool. Maybe a polarized filter with a DIY lens?

Most of the good info is past the first few posts.

But yeah, the reason pollard has it on the outside, is probably that the filter he is using is very nice. I have also heard of people machining threads onto the outside of the gopro lens housing, and modding a step up filter. Maybe this is something like that..

But yeah, check out this thread, FREE DIY circular polarizing filter for a GoPro.
