It didn't happen in Japan after the quake and tsunami.  Yet it happened after the tornadoes in America.  People blatantly stealing shit that belongs to other people.  Sure makes your pig country look even more piggish, wouldn't you say?  Business as usual.

Every country has terrible people, the bringing up of them also effects this though alas it just depends on how many of those assholes are opportunists and take advantage of such an event.

First off, you're not allowed to say "The US is a pig country. Inb4 political shitstorm."

Second, it's due to cultural differences. Japanese people value consensus and conformity as important virtues. Americans tend to value individualism and independence more. One value system lends itself more to politeness, and one more to survival.

It's not just the US, though. Remember all the looting in Chile last year after the earthquake?

only thing i'll add to this thread is that the japan is quite a remarkable nation.....

the way they handled the tsunami was quite impressive and i honestly don't think that any other nation would've had the discipline and strength to handle a disaster like that in such a frigid/controlled fashion...

its pretty true. really speaks to their culture and how they value community more, whereas americans are portraying themselves as greedy pigs. if you're looting to survive you take the bare necessities and share with one another, you dont rob the shit out of the place for personal gain. you cant justify that.
