i know there have been alot of threads on this, but couldnt really find the answers i needed. So first of all, Im kinda on a tight budget and need a good tripod. I was looking at the Manfrotto 701 fluid head and the 190 or 055 legs, but not really looking to drop 300+ on a tripod. Are there any other good tripods that i could keep under 200 bucks. Also, if i were to end up getting the manfrotto stuff, would the 055 XB legs be a significant difference over the 190 legs?
A tripod is a system that you dont want to cheap out on. Its going to last a hell of a lot longer than your camera and you want something decent. Start saving up and then buy a nice sachtler or libec system, it will be money worth spending
190 legs are totally shitty. 055 legs are just pretty shitty. Seriously, save up for a few more months and buy some Benro legs and a good head (spend more on the head than the legs).
With video cameras you can get away with crappy tripods (Manfrotto), but the telescopic potential of DSLRs requires a much more stable tripod system. If you buy $500 tripods, I guarantee you will be replacing them every two years, which will cost you much more in the long run.
