Why did Helly Hansen drop most of its team?

I noticed most of the Helly hansen riders all are sponsored by other outerwear brands. Why did they drop them?

how is it the responsibility of helly hanson to keep giving away product and contracts to riders in this situation. Im sure all of the riders contracts were honored until they were over. its the choice of the company if they want to sponsor riders. fuck they dont need anyone to ride for them and im sure they would still get good business.

lol their not a band, their a business. I'm sure they have to sell the company so who's who can have a sustainable future. This isn't what's wrong with the economy, it's because the economy is shit.

I've heard of a few of their athletes in the past getting dropped over this. HH wanted them to spend their winters working at a mountain rather than doing what they should be in riding all day every day. Seems pretty ridiculous to me asking your athletes to work at the mountain rather than get better at what they do, and if they refuse, they're dropped.

The world isn't all lollipops and fucking unicorns. in times of economic hardship, companies do what that have to do to maintain continuity. if that means selling the business, so be it. they owe no body anything.

Another question. Why does Bula have a completly different team than it had a year ago? it used to have charles gagner, jf cusson, colby west and bunch more, now it just has a few people.

Helly Hanson certainly slapped Vincent Dorion in the face by dropping him. Seeing as it's their track record it didn't surprise me when they let the rest of the skiers go. Their two year marketing campaign to get into the "youth" market failed. They anted up good dollars for Kris Ostness to make those free dvds like "Happy Happy" and "Lifted" but people under 25 generally couldn't afford $1000 dollar snow suits.

I know this thread is old, but I was actually just wondering about Helly Hansen myself, "what happened to that sick gear they used to make?" I remember being in Las Lenas in 2005 and seeing the H/H team riders down there in some of the sickest jackets and setups I'd ever seen. I came home and googled that shit and it wasn't even out yet. That season it was all over the map.

So for just a few years they made the dope duds and then just kinda pulled out of that game. bummer! They have been an outerwear company for about 100 years but I guess they have some other markets they can make money in. They make wicked baselayers and I've seen their sailing gear and it looks cool ... if you race yachts. seriously though. I'm bummed. I'll buy up some trew and put a RIP H/H patch on the butt.

It may depend on their target market. If they don't feel the $$$ it takes to sponsor the athletes is giving them a good return, then they have to change it up

Aspen Ski Patrol now is being outfitted by HH, so maybe they are just re-focusing their sponsorship. When visitors go to Aspen, they will see the Patrol frequently, so that will be a lot of exposure.

not just the ski patrol, the whole company has HH. Everyone from lift ops, to ski instructors, to ski patrol, and maintenance personel, they all have it. the stuff they have looks pretty sweet
