Isn't a whole lot of the Southern States in a so-called "Tronado Alley"? With stuff like this happening over and over again annually.

Maybe it's time to head somewhere else if possible.

Yeah it's more Midwestern states really, and most of them occur in countryside where a lot of people don't live. There is apparently another one called Dixie Alley though, which would include all the states hit by this recent string of storms/tornadoes.

I live here, its a shit show right now. My county only got hit by hail and high winds, but 30 are dead in surrounding counties and something like 200+ in the southeastern states. It is pretty sad right now. I feel so lucky that we only got hail, If you guys can stick the Southeast in your prayers

since 1974. this is all we talked about in my weather class today. its crazy shit. 202 dead and rising. its left a mile and a half wide footprint through the city and there is absolutely no way of predicting where it will head next until it is already there. tornadoes are fierce

Okay...

So, I feel bad for the people who have lost their homes and loved ones. I also feel bad as to the fact that people continue to live in these dangerous areas. As stated above, most of the tornadoes may hit the farm lands and such without any pertinent damages or casualties, but it is a dangerous area to live in and they know it.

I don't know what has been done to prevent tornado/storm damages, but I hope from another massive destruction like this people will stand together in effort and come up with better ways to sustain these areas as safer living environments.



Still, prayers, praying... They do shit-all. If you want to help, donate to an organization that is willing to help in your stead.

you really just shouldn't have responded to this thread at all then. telling people who believe in the power of prayer that they're wasting their time is the same as them telling you that jesus died for your sins and you should accept him into your life. it's a difference in beliefs and so if you don't want them to press their's on you, then don't press yours on them. it's disrespectful and annoying and only promotes hate on this site.

If you see someone on the street, cold and hungry, are you going to pray for them or give them a dollar?

What the hell has this got to do with respect? Respect towards you? Prayers, happy thoughts for those in need... It's just a slefish device to say "Oh, I prayed for someone today, I did my part" which of course, as they say, is completely useless.

You're just pulling on strings here. And no, I don't respect people's beliefs, I respect people if they deserve it.

Either way, the only, single, motherfucking thing you can do to actually help these people is to either go there and help restore the physical/mental damage incurred or to simply make a donation to a charity or an organization that is going to help them.


Not that hard of a concept to grasp, no?

I'm not even mad anymore, I just wanna know why you care. I dont care if you pray for the place I live, I dont care if you donate 50 cents- 500 dollars. I just stated what was going on and how it was a tragedy for my home. I hope you atleast keep this in your thoughts, cuz it feels good to know people have you and your friends in your heart.  Maybe someday you will know, but for now just drop it I dont and I dont think anyone else cares anymore. thanks you.

I just think overall it's inane to pray instead of doing something. If you do something AND happen to pray, then more power to you. I don't think that feeling bad for someone and holding them in your heart and wishing the best for them is in any way attributed to praying, but if that's what you are used to (think good for others) then do what you do best.

I'll stop my loitering now.

settled. Like I said I respect how you believe and hold nothing against you for it. I realize why you stood up and said what you thought. after all that is what makes the internet great.

Quick update to all though, people are great though and are traveling everywhere in the south to help out disaster stricken areas. its pretty cool, so Mike-O people are taking things under their belt and it IS helping out alot.  Still death-toll rises (mainly in Alabama) but shits settling down
