Replying to MF DOOM Appreciation Thread.

The back story.

Daniel Dumile (Do-me-lay) was born in London on January 9th 1971. His mother was from Trinidad, his father was from Zimbabwe. He moved from London to Long Beach, Long Island, NY.

He started the rap group KMD in 1988 with his brother DJ Subroc and a rapper named Onyx the Birthstone Kid. KMD gained some buzz and was signed to Elektra Records. In 1991, they released an album called "Mr. Hood" and got heavy play on many hip hop TV programs.

in 1993 DJ Subroc was hit and killed by a car crossing a Long Beach intersection. KMD had an album on the way entitled "BL_CK B_ST_RDS" but was dropped by Elektra a week after Subroc was killed but before the album was released.

For the next three years, Dumile testifies to disillusionment and depression, living "damn-near homeless, walking the streets of Manhattan, sleeping on benches.

In 1997, Dumile moved to Atlanta and began freestyling incognito at open mic nights at a cafe in Atlanta with a stocking cap over his face.

He then took on a new identity, MF DOOM, depicted from Marvel-Comics-Super-Villain, Dr. Doom. He received a Dr. Doom mask and would not allow himself to be seen in photography or while performing without it.

In 1999 MF DOOM released his first full length LP entitled "Operation:Doomsday" on Fondle 'Em Records.

In 2003, he released two albums. One under the name King Geedorah, (Take Me to Your Leader) and the other under Viktor Vaughn (Vaudeville Villain).

In 2004, he released three albums.
