Moving from NY to CA

So I just bought a 95 BMW convertible and I'm trying to move from NY to CA in the next month or so. I would most likely be going by myself and driving out. I'm thinking the Bay area because I'm a website designer and there are a lot of jobs in my field there.

I'm looking for a job and a place to rent. Preferably a job in my field but I'm open to pretty much anything at this point. I'm trying to sell my other car (http://syracuse.craigslist.org/cto/2348997242.html) but I might have my friend drive it out and sell it there or just keep it. If anyone knows of a place to rent or a job it would be much appreciated. I'm also looking for any cool spots to stop along the way (not the typical tourist attractions).

Can't help you out too much man, I don't know CA all that well. I have been to a lot of southern california and loved it but I'm not sure where you can find reasonable rent. i'm sure there are places.


on the drive out though...it depends on how you go. If you're going more south then you can hit St. Louis and check out the gateway arch...but st. louis sucks ass so don't do that.

I would take rt. 80 most of the way, pick up 76 in Colorado and check out denver and rocky mountain national park. Plus the drive from CO to CA is pretty fuckin beautiful.

I'm in the same boat, I just sold my house so I have cash to live off for awhile but the best thing is not to talk about it but just do it. your young now is the time to do it. CA ftmfw

im planning to do the same and move from NY to CA in like a year when i wrap up community college. im trying to figure all this out too, its not very easy..the first year will be rough but once i establish residency and all. good luck to you, hope we can both pull it off

Corte Madera is where my roommate's from. It's about 30 mins north of San Fran. Nice Area

no, it's only 15-20 minutes with no traffic. he probably won't be able to afford corte madera, let alone most places in Marin. Plus, there's nothing going on nightlife wise anywhere in Marin County. I grew up in Mill Valley, which is one town closer to SF than Corte Madera.

I go to school at Berkeley and it's a nice town and nice vibe, plus it's pretty easy to get into sf from here. rent is pretty steep here though.

Taking 70 can be both really boring and really beautiful. I usually just take 80 though cuz it's easier and faster.
