verizon fucks you with their data plans. I don't exactly remember, but when my phone broke and I went in for a new one I had three options;
1 - get a phone designed for the elderly and blind, no extra cost but -50 swag pts.
2 - get a new phone with a highly restricted data plan , $10 or 15 extra a month (can't quite remember)
3 - get a new phone and pay $30/mo. for unlimited data
I ended up giving in and paying the 30 a month. They hooked me up with a free droid (this was before iphone was available, though i gotta say i still prefer the droid over it), and i figured if i was gonna be forced into forking over the extra money i might as well use the damn service as much as possible. the cheap data plan is a huge rip off, you can only load <100 pages a month, and if you get a smartphone it will eat up on the plan even when youre not using the phone so getting raped with a huge bill at the end of the month is inevitable.
