I am taking a trip down to Snowflex in Virgina to film with my friends. I want a couple nice lens. i was wondering if anyone had a decent wide angle/fisheye, and also if someone had a nice zoom lens, like the 70-200mm f/4 (lens need to fit the Canon t2i). they do not have to have IS. if anyone has one of these lens, or something else they would be willing to lend me for a week, that would be fantastic. Thank you to anyone who will help me out.
lenses are not cheap and i would not trust my shit with some random from ns, no matter how much they knew their shit. your best bet is definitely that camera shop.
Is that camera shop on your way to snowflex? If it's a couple minutes out of the way, I still would do it. Wide selection of lenses to choose from, BUT the more expensive the lens the more expensive it is to rent. No flat rate shit.
Don't rent lenses.. ever. And I doubt anyone is going to give you theirs. What I suggest is if you are going on a trip for a week or so. Just scrounge up the money, and buy the lens used of craigslist, fm, potn or any other site. Once you are done, just sell it for around what you paid, or a slight loss. I can almost guarantee that whatever your loss is, is still significantly less than renting for a week.
Then you have to do with selling, and shipping. Too much work. Shipping also cost money too, so that will put you in the negatives even if you sell it for the same price. I would much rather rent a good lens for three days for about 10 dollars via connections than buy and resell.
Obviously he doesn't have "connections" like you do, so he won't get it for $10. And I looked at the prices, they arent too bad for a week on cheaper glass. I went to the local camera stores and they told me it would be around $50-60 to rent a 10.5 for a few days, I laughed quietly and walked out.
