LONGBOARD TRUCKS

I am looking into a new longboard and i think i am gonna get the landyachtz drop carve. i am goin to go with orangatang 4 preseident wheels in 80a 70 mm. wat trucks should i go with? i was thinknin either the paris 180s or the randal 2 180s. wat are your oppinions?

ive only ever ridden the randals and no complaints. love them nothing bad to say about them

I've had Randals on my Dervish for like 3.5 years and have had no problems with them. They took a little while to break in but I like them for cruising. They do get a little unstable at high speeds, but that's also probably due to the fact that I ride a Dervish, and not a dropped dh board.

randalls are pretty stock...and no offense to anyone not very strong. i've broken 2 in the 3 years of riding and seen a couple others crack on the baseplate from impact. i'd really recommend looking into bear trucks, carve fairly well and super sturdy for bombing.

In short, randal and paris trucks are pretty similar, but there are some differences. paris' use a better way of gravity casting and are generally known to have a nicer bushing seat, but randal has more variation in BP angles (35,42 and 50). randall's are also the industry benchmark for truck standards.

bear trucks on the other hand are meh. their shoddy casting has only slightly improved over the years, and i would ride randals over them any day.

If you're going for a drop carve, fuck RKP's and get a good oll' set of Indy-Hybrids. these will blow your fucking mind. you will be on a mega low fucking magic carpet and since they increase your wheelbase slightly, you will get a more flexy fun ride for cruising and absorbing the bumps.

i'm sorry but don't get these, they suck and i have broken a few.

I find the randals to be light and pretty agile, and durable. The paris' are also pretty sturdy but they aren't as agile, i think.

theres not many trucks that i can put on my commuter and carve circles on sidewalks and then flip the setup and put them on my DH board and mob hills and feel completely stable.

if anything, paris' should be more "agile" due to the fact that they shorten up your wheelbase a tad. however, they both have the same bp angles, and their bushing seats are almost the same. the only thing about paris trucks are that they have somewhat thin axles which can bend under ungodly amounts of earlygrabing.

Randalls are good, but they are poorly manufactured and eat bushings
Gullwings Suck, plain and simple
I'm not a fan of Bears or Paris, I just don't like the way they ride
Calibers are really good
But my new faves are Gun Metals, for your board I would suggest Double Barrels

Id say Randels, though Paris' are basically the same thing. Dont go with TKP trucks like indys unless you know like that style, they will have a sloppier feel and not be as stable at speed due the geometry, they do however make great slide trucks due to the sloppy feel.

So im assuming since your asking that you dont have a particular set up/style in mind, Randel will be best (mainly because thats what I ride) but you wont go wrong with paris either.

oh dont waste your money on ceramics, your not going to be going fast enough to melt your bearings.

After riding Randalls and Paris, I definitely like my Randalls more, they just need cupped washers and a bushing swap from the stock ones they come with.

Ive ridden on paris and randals, and I definitely prefer randals. Both are great trucks, especially with the right bushing setup though.

I am now deciding weather i should get a dervish with 78a gumballs or a gravity kalai with the same wheels. which should i get?? any opinions on the kalai?

loadeds cost a shitload and from what i've seen you can get stuff thats just as good for a lower price. I looked on the gravity site and don't see what board you're talking about. but if you're just going to be riding around, any shape will do really, you'll get used to it regardless of what it is. A kid I know rides one of those 5ft long flex decks to class. for me, can't ride it at all. but he seems to manage.

I've stood on a kalai before and ridden a lot of dervishes...my opinion: Kalai is a bit less flexy than a flex 1 dervish, but would most likely break in some over time. The dervish has a little more nose/tail to play around with, which can be nice (my current board has virtually no nose or tail and it makes reverts difficult.) Also, the Kalai is a bit wider, which I prefer, the dervish always feels a little too narrow for my feet. However, for the money, I would definitely go with the Gravity; they are similar enough in shape, weight, and flex that either would be great all around board. It's not worth shelling out the extra money for the Loaded logo on it.

you can use any of the big names for trucks,

but if they suck get a new pair of bushings

khiro bushings are the shit, the durometer on them says how hard they are, the lower the softer. the softer the turnier
