Moving up from Pivot 14's to Pivot 18's

So I have been riding on pivot 14's at a DIN 8 this season and they have been good, they release when I want them to and hold me in when I need them to. But I just broke the toe piece for the second time, so I'm contemplating getting the 18 strictly for the full metal toe as I will definitely not break them. But can you run the lowest DIN setting on that binding due to it starting at 8?

just wait until a pair or a few pairs of fks 155 race rossi's pop up in FS/FT and hop on those. they only have up to 15 din but still have the full metal toe. plus you can usually snag em for around 100-120 bucks.

You can run at the lowest DIN, but it tends to back out the DIN to zero and make the toe piece unstable/wiggle. Also, I have the P18s (the new ones) and the toe piece isn't all metal, in fact the piece I broke on my p14s last year is also plastic on the 18s. I'd suggest finding some 155s, since you don't need an 18 DIN binding and the metal parts probably aren't the ones you're breaking.

I broke part of the arms off of the 14's twice, and I'm pretty positive that the arms on the 18's are metal, I know the base of the toe is plastic on both. But thanks for the help I will look into getting some 155's.

old 155s/185s are more durable and cheaper. i dont see the point in buying new pivots

that plastic piece on the wing of the toes is also on the old 155s and 185s. I dont think it will break off the full metal toe pieces because every time i've seen those pieces broken off is when one of the plastic upward release toes releases upwards.

dont get the 18's, you have no need for that high of dins and youll just end up hurting yourself. id say go for 155's, and im assuming you already know this but you can buy replacement AFD's if its not the whole toepiece thats broken

I have broken one on an old pair of fks185s, not sure how I did it, but I did.
You could also try and find a pair of px15 (have the same metal toe as the old P15s. The din window says 8-15 on it, but I believe it has the same spring as the older p15/fsk155, which had a din window going from 6-15.
