Rail Help!

This is a follow up to a thread i made about getting some rails made for my local resort. I have came back with one company that is willing to make one for free. After asking around everyone seemed to be in favour of a nice kink (down flat down)

I am now in need of measurements and specs for this rail! So does anyone have any input on what the total length and what length each kink section should be? Also how long should the support poles (ones that go in the snow) be?

any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Support poles should be around 4 - 5 feet. Mellow DFD's are nice. 15' down, 10' flat, 15' down.

okay so you will probably want both the downs to be the same makes it a lot easier so i would go with like 6 feet for those and like 4 for the flat but for the support i wouldnt know sorry

true i guess i dont mind them though as long as you know what you want to do on them they arent bad in my opinion

I think that six feet will seem way shorter when you're actually on it. I'd say like 12/13 - 10 - 12/13. and the supports for a rail that is going down need to be a little longer, no? So about 5-6 feet. Those are kindof up to you though, cause you need to find out how tall you want it to be.

yeah thinking about it now it would be really short like i have an 18 foot rail in my backyard and 1/3 of that feels like nothing so my bad just ignore my post sorry.

I really like mellow dfd so I would say 12 ft down 15 flat 12 down and about the supports, I don't know how tall you want it to be but I would say 5 ft.

I really like being on the rail longer and that flat part slows you down a lot to make it more trickable. Just my opinion though.

i would say make the soppourt poles about 5-6 feet long like at my resort, and do a 18-12-18

thats lke the dfd they have at my mountain, its like 45 feet long and really mellow and fun and u can det some good tricks around on it

heres a vid that has the rail in it: skip to 1:30 or just watch the whole thing, its a sick edit

i just got some local feedback for a 12 down, 7 flat, 15 down
now, this is coming from a snowboarder, to me it would be strangely shaped and hard to hit
thoughts?

having a good deal of experience, make the rail no shorter than 30 feet, 12-8-12, 12-8-14, and 14-8-14, are all good lengths, anything longer is going to be incredibly difficult to move and work with. trust me.

the second tip i have is to make the rail decently mellow. if the kinks are too steep you need to put it in a really steep section of hill, thats also a bitch. the other thing with steep kink is that you'll miss a lot of the first down when you hop on urban. its no fun to land almost at the flat.

15 down, 12 flat, 15 down.  15 degree kinks.  2ft. skirting will make it nut friendly.

at least 15, no more than 20 if you want to keep it mellow.

but 15 is a good starting point.
