i mean his opinion is not invalid because kicker is one of the most quality subs on the market along with rockford fosgate. Personally the type r will get the job done at a good price but wont hit as good and sound as crisp at there peak or just when bumping the sub as a kicker or fosgate would. My suggestion would to just put a little more money and get a higher end sub, and if you want it to hit hard when wanted or needed, but still sound crisp i would bump the size up to a 12 in ported box.
i have yet to see anything in this thread from anyone except for you two about kicker being a high end sub. because wait...............wait for it..................................................................wait.....................................yep, kicker sucks
aight. thats good about the professionally installed part.
and now with all subs, it doesn't matter what the max power is rated at, whats important is the rms, and when you're looking at amps to power the subs you want the amp to be at least 75% of the rms from the sub.
personally i like to overpower my subs, but it's all up to you.
also, stay away from brands like dual, sony (xplod), pyle, other companies that you've never heard of.
sure some of the bigger names might cost more up front, but the speaker quality will be much higher, and it will last longer.
thats because everyone in this thread talk about there alpines, diamond, or they dont know because they bought it at fucking walmart. If you ever have heard a kicker u would realize that what you are saying is completely wrong.
ive heard kickers, and they suck ass. ive heard an astrovan with 4 kicker 12s powered by two seperate amps, and they suck ass. ive heard two jl 12s outpower kickers. one rockford 15 p2 will outpower that...kicker is not a very nice sub. id rather hit a pioneer bought from walmart than a kicker
i will definitly admit that kickers circle subs like the cvr are not that great but the l7 and the l5 are so much more powerful than the rockford p2, even tho i like rockford, there is not doubt in my mind that a 15 l7 will out power a p2,p3, and will definitely kick the shit out of pioneer. Also if you put 2 12 jls and and 2 12 l7s the l7s will win, they put out lower notes and have high quality sound so i dont understand what you are talking about.
care to click? it says that your L7 rms can push 600 watts, and the frequency response range is 24-100 hz
JL w7 rms at 1000 watts
rockford p3 rms at 500 watts, and anyone would agree that a 100 watt difference is not blow you out of the water
alpine x rms at 1000 watts, plus its range is from 26-200 hz. again, 24 hz is not going to sound amazingly more low than 26, but the 100 hz gap will definitely let the higher tone hits sound better than that of a kickers
Yeah but what you dont understand is, is that although the jl puts out 1000 rms, the L7 is a square sub that has more surface area making it louder, crisper, and able to produce much deeper notes than the jl, at a lower amount of rms. Not to mention it can go higher than 1000 rms.
it might hit louder if shit matched up equally but they dont. as for crisper? definitely not. circle subs hit tighter because the cone is tighter and not all funky shaped
I mean they may not hit as crisp as a fosgate but they are still a quality sub, and i know something like the t1 hits harder but i dont really care because i have a kicker, have heard a kicker, i know that they sound good, and i dont really give a shit what you think. Jls are good, alpines are good, but fosgate and kicker both are on top of them all.
as 'cool' as that is, im gonna go out on a limb and say anything that big would need more airspace behind and around the sub than even a hollowed out shell of a chevy suburban. but still...yes you will lose hearing in front of that
i mean i dont really care what you think. All i have to say is that i love Rockford Fosgate and will probably get one, and i love Kicker. I do believe rockford is better than kicker but they are two completely different brands and subs, and there is no way that Kicker is in any way the worst sub brand out there because they are one of the top. So you can continue with your opinion but i think you find that if you talk to a lot of people about subs the first brands to come to mind are Kicker and Rockford.
i have 2 10 inch kickers sealed boxes 300w each and they're about perfect if you want balance. i can everything fine even with the subs and the music all the way up. im quite happy with my subs, but they do take up most of my trunk.
Please no one kill me for bumping this, but I'm buying a new sub and it's a buy one get one free deal. does anyone want to split the price and keep a sub? PM me and let me know. I'll show you what I'm talking about too
depends what kind of music you listen to. I have 2 10" in my car in a sealed box and drops don't sound nearly as good as they do with 12". 10" subs don't give as much kick but they play throughout the songs at less bassy parts
I have a 15 inch kicker L5 and its powered by a 1000 watt amp and its craazy! Also have 2 8s under my front seats powered by a 700 watt amp. New deck today a 7 inch alpine flip out touch screen! Lot of my friends love my sound system.
