Ripped my binding out of one of my Atomic Bentchetlers this weekend....called customer service and apparently they don't stand by their product unless you have a receipt from when you bought them...

Last time I checked, I could return a defective product directly to a company and they made things right, apologizing for the inconvenience that said product may have caused.

I'm just lucky that it happened in lift-accessed, mellow terrain, in warm and sunny weather...

Thanks for NOTHING atomic - you've REALLY impressed me and all of my friends today...thanks for keeping my faith in the ski industry.

Needing a receipt to return something is pretty basic stuff. Giving you a pair of skis purely on the basis of good will would have been fantastic, but I'd probably side with them on this one.

thats pretty weak of atomic. if there this years modle i would think they would warranty it. you dont have an email receipt or anything

Bindings should break before they rip out of a ski - they were professionally drilled. This is my first season on them, less than 50 days this year. That rules out overuse. As for blunt impact, I was making a turn on a moderately pitched slope, and have footage to prove it. Nice attempt dude.

haha yea they do.

but yea op that really sucks, even if you didnt keep the receipt i cant beleive they wont help you out at all. but for something as important as skis im surprised you didnt keep the receipt. if you boughtem online than there should be record of the purchase

If you bought them online you can get a receipt easily. If you bought them in a store you'd be able to go back and get a receipt printed off too. Or otherwise you'd be able to get proof from your bank that you paid amount x to shop x on a particular date. So IF you're the only owner, it doesn't seem like a big deal to get proof of ownership?

If you bought them second hand the warranty possibly doesn't apply anymore. What is the damage like? If the binding came out with minimal damage to the ski it's probably due to the person who mounted them. If a big chunk of the ski has ripped out and the binding screws are still holding then you might have a case with atomic.

if i warranted every ski I ripped a binding out, id have a lot more skis. Redrill them/helicoil them. Get different bindings. Most times its the mount, and almost never the ski design.

lol my friend had 08/09 salomon threats, the edge started peeling off from the top and they gave him a new pair of 09/10 suspects.  thats kinda wack, unless you ate shit or did something retarded they should refund you or something

I'm suprised to hear this. I have had great experiences with Atomic as far as warranty's go and i have never handed in my receipt of purchase.

Two years ago my buddy ripped his bindings out of his punx. Atomic warrantied them no questions. Sorry to hear that they arent helping you out on this one, but getting a receipt shouldnt be a big problem

+ its a pretty wide known fact that atomic arguably produces the highest quality skis in all disciplines of skiing.

its not atomics fault, as stated above, go get them heli coiled for $10.

You're an ignorant fucking little bitch.

It's never the ski's fault the binding rips out - it's either the fault of the drilling or the binding itself. Doesn't have to do anything with the ski, and I completely understand why Atomic doesn't warranty them.

I've had 2 ski's warrantied by Atomic and from both I didn't have a receipt. And 3 others friends have had ski's warrantied as well.

if you bought the skis new, you should have little problem tracking down proof of purchase.  if you bought them used, you are shit out of luck and quit bitching.

I ripped out the bindings on my suspects, got them remounted without heli coils and they ripped out again within two weeks, redrilled them with heli coils and they have lasted the rest of the season. Cost me 15$ to remount both bindings, best use of money ever.

Well, even if you sent it in, there is a small chance that it was actually a defect in the ski and thus properly warranty-able. So they probably just saved you shipping them the ski and them having to say "sorry nope" and shipping it back to you. If there wasn't an actual construction issue or a defective core then it's probable that your binding would have ripped out of any ski. In most cases, it doesn't need a new ski - like everyon'e said you should just get 'em heli coiled.

man that really sucks but i have to say, they're not in the wrong here, you cant return anything really without a receipt, let alone a $900 (or however much they are) pair of skis. i have the receipt for my skis i bought over 2 years now even though the warranty would be void, you don't just loose or get rid of things like that

you really shouldnt be posting how pissed off you are and talking shit about a company because they are asking you to follow their warranty procedures. some people from ski companies do cruise online forums to see what people are saying about their product. this includes those in the warranty dept. they now know the problem with the ski, roughly the area where it's coming from, and the shit you're talking about the brand.

they might have been inclined to help you as an act of good faith but now, i wouldn't doubt they'll tell you to piss off.

if i worked in their warranty dept, i wouldn't give the ski a second look and would send it right back to you.

Just get over it. My heel piece ripped clean out of my T-Halls on the second night of a ski trip and I just remounted it an inch back and skied the next day.

Then on another trip a month later the slider of the same heel piece had internally cracked so that It freely moved and didn't stay fit .The shop happened to have an odd rossignol one so I got lucky and they just slid a new one in for 15 $.

Thats what shops are for dude, just swing in and see what they recommend. (as long as its not the toe, then you are a little fucked because you would have to remount them a full inch back.)

i ripped out a binding on my scott p4s 3 times and its still my favorite ski, just get it helicoiled or get inserts, a rip-out is 90% of the time not even the manufacturer's fault, but because of bad drilling/sealing or secondary ski damage (ie. coreshot not sealed up, core soaks up water, binding rips out.... its usually not the manufacturers fault)
