i really need a hobby now that ski season is over i have nothing to do. i find my self sitting watching tv on my computer for five hour time periods someone HELP

Golf or building longboards or skateboards, I started doing this last year and I made $30 profit each board I sold, which is pretty decent I guess

i'm living in my house for the summer alone since all my roomies went home. i'm too cheap to pay for internet, i don't watch tv and my ps3 broke last year. i plan on taking up several hobbies. i bought a pretty nice road bike which i'm getting pretty into. a buddy i work with climbs so we're gonna do that. i plan on starting to work out more often. and now that i saw this thread, i might pick up the old guitar again and see what i can learn. it shall be a summer of hobbies instead of websurfing and video games. i hope i can stick to it, and i'm pretty excited to see what i accomplish. that is all.

I got my acoustic for christmas this year (Yamaha F210). It came with all the stuff you need to start playing (tuner, bag, guitar, extra set of strings, ect...) for a first guitar it is pretty good, but when you get better you will probably want something a bit higher end. I also bought my electric (Epiphone Les Paul Special II) a few months ago. really just do a bit of research, ask around, there are a ton of guitars out there, I am sure you can find a good deal pretty easily.
I would recommend looking on http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ They have a bunch of reviews on the site.

Also, you dont really need to take lessons, they help, but if you just work at it (working on tabs, asking friends who play, looking on youtube) you can usually figure almost anything out. Just keep trying and you will eventually get it.

Also sorry for double post but how do you guys learn guitar. I learned the uke from lessons but dont wanna spend that money for the guitar so how do you get started?

I had a few friends who play, but I learned the basics off youtube (chords, a few simple songs) then, once I got better I started working on tabs and chords to songs. in 4 months I have gone from: not knowing how to play to playing some of the simpler John Butler songs, some Metallica, some Red Hot Chili Peppers, and I am currently working on learning the Halo Theme. It takes time, and at first you will suck; but the more you work the better you get, and it feels really good when you finally get a song 100%!

get some skates, try to get a bmx bike, skateboard.....guitar is fun, find a tramp on craigslist learn to make hoodies

learn some popular songs and people will be glad to sing along

or learn to skate/blade
so much fun and i feel blading helps your skiing and vice versa
3rd times on blades this spring and my spinning was waaaay better due to getting comfy on bigger jumps on skis than what you see in skateparks
