What up NS?! Just graduated Basic Training yesterday from the Air Force. Missed about half of ski season but I guess it was for a good reason. Hope everyone had a sick ski season and I'm happy to be back home here on NS.
Well to be honest BMT was not hard at all. All the push ups and physical shit that they make you do is not bad at all. The hardest part about BMT honestly is all the mind fucking that they do to you. They tear you down to nothing, but they build you back up into fuckin badasses. A lot of what people don't see about BMT is the classroom setting. No bullshit roughly 75% of my time was spent in a classroom at BMT. Where the instructors are chill relaxed guys that don't give a fuck about what you do.
Along with the mind fucking the part that sucked most about BMT was keeping all our shit in PERFECT order. You have to roll your socks the perfect correct way by the book, roll all your different t shirts. We have 3 different types, and they all have to be folded/rolled a certain way. Our shoes had to be placed the proper way, and perfectly straight under our bed. And the beds take a good 15 minutes to make to inspection order.
But as long as you have your mid set on the end, and have a reason to keep you pushin through it anyone can make it. Now I'm in Whchita Falls Texas for my tech school. I'm learning how to run huge ass power grids, and fix high voltage generators and shit. So I'm getting my degree in civil engineering. Then hope to one day become an officer. But yeah pissed I missed out on 3/4 of my ski season but hey I guess it was for a good reason. Thanks all for the support peace out.
I'm heading to basic this summer at the Air Force Academy, so it's interesting to hear about BMT. From what it sounds they're pretty much going to run train on my mind haha. Is there anything you wish you'd known before you went into it?
shit dude congrats on getting accepted into the academy. That's some tough shit to do. But damn man they are totally different BMT and the academy. As you know you will come out an officer, so they focus more on leadership abilities then battlefield shit for the enlisted like me. I guess the best advice I can give you is don't listen to whatever they're yelling at you for, but still break what their saying down into a message. Everything you do no matter how stupid you think it may be has a reason. I was doing the dumbest shit ever in my first week, but when it came to my 7th week eval, all the practicing I did for something so stupid helped me out to score super high. So just get the message they are telling you, and just realize it's their job to yell 90% of them are all cool guys. They are just paid to be d-bags. Just remember why you are doing this, and all the good that you will cause in the future. SO just remember to Aim High, FLY, FIGHT, WIN!
