yeah according to my phone breck is gonna get 3-5" today, 3-5" tonight, and 2-4" tomorrow. this would usually translate to like a foot and a half. and tomorrow is closing day.

It's most likely the cost of running the place and not getting a lot of customers. This time of year, ski tourism slows down because most people don't think about skiing, they want the summer and sunshine. So less customers + running the lifts + paying the staff = much less profit if any at all so why even stay open. Sure, we as avid skiers wish it would stay open longer, but from a business point of view, it's stupid.

Breck is actually open a week or so later than usual this season.

Someone will post on here saying Brecks contracts with the forrest service expire and they have to close. This is false, they only close because of money. Breck is pretty much dead right now besides the park... empty, theyre just not making enough money to cover costs.

A basin is actually open into June. They can pull it off because they're a smaller hill, and don't cost as much to operate. They are pretty much the only place open after this weekend (loveland a few more weeks), so they get all the business.

A basin also gets money from Vail resorts every time a vail pass is scanned there. So theyre still making money from season pass holders....whereas every other vail resort isn't.

La Nina isn't over. Probably looking at another foot or more of snow fairly low in Washington next week. Volcanoes looking at possibly a lot more. Hell, 2 days ago it was snowing at my house and I live barely above sea level.
