Poor Emma Watson. All she wanted was an Ivy League education but that didn’t go as planned.
The pixie-haired beauty left Brown University — where she was enrolled from Fall 2009 up to this past winter — and while she claims it’s because she wanted to focus on what she's got going on professionally, reports surfaced that the real reason is that she could no longer take her classmates’ heckling.
A source told the New York Daily News that Emma always participated in class discussions and would often “answer something in class and get it right.” Unfortunately for the 21-year-old, that didn’t sit well with her peers — and out came the puerile antics.
The insider claims her classmates “would respond [to her answer] with a quote from Harry Potter,” calling out things like “three points for Gryffindor!,” referring to the films and a congratulatory phrase said in them whenever a student got a correct answer.
All Emma wanted from the Providence, R.I., institution — aside from a good education, of course — was a normal experience, but while attending a football game in Cambridge (where the school was playing Harvard), the actress wrote on her blog that she felt like she was being “stalked” by Harvard students as they “shouted Harry Potter phrases at her.”
On her website, Emma posted why she was taking a break from Brown. “I’ve decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on Harry Potter … and to focus on my other professional and acting projects. I will still be working towards my degree ... it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought.”
But I’m not so sure. If Lancome’s latest face wanted a “normal” life, two security guards in orange vests escorting her “in and out of the stadium” isn’t exactly the way to go. Also, another source claims Watson’s roommate her freshman year was forced to sign strict confidentiality agreements before moving in with the star. Huh. You’d think she’d have just had her own place off-campus.
