whose the richest person you know, and what did they do to aquire their wealth?

You have to actually know this person too, like they would for sure greet you by your first name whenever they saw you...it cant be someone you met a few times.

Old money vs. new money.


The new money folks have their "group of friends" up at our lake house and basically "invited" our family into their group of friends because they thought we "were good enough"... We politely declined.

It's families like the fucking Kardashians (new money) that make the wealthy look so snobby.

Joe Kruger. He has a place on the lake i spend my summers at. He's the third richest man in Canada, owns kruger newspaper. He supposedly worth 1.2 billion.

Ohhh word. Yeah it's kind of an on-going issue in my family actually... though it shouldn't be.


A very good family friend (whom owned the company with us) adopted a daughter when she was old enough to know she was going to be rich. She has caused issues between our family for years and has spent so much of our companies money on a couple of her sea planes. We fly in unison once in a while and she boasts to me about how much money she puts into her planes, and has no idea that I know that it's all our companies money. What's funny is that she has no idea that she is going to get NOTHING when her parents pass, either. Quite unfortunate because it's not entirely her fault... she was raised with ignorance so she has no sense.

I care to disagree.

I'm a 20 year old girly girl yet I ride a YZ250, drive a 4x4 XTerra and go off-roading, jetski, boat, paraglide, fly fucking airplanes that land on the water, kayak... anything and everything outdoors.


If that's not fun to you I don't know what is.

My friend's aunt stacy created, developed and sold Stacy's Pita Chips to Lays... shes got a lot of money...

also, my dad works with a brother of the richest man in the world, Carlos Slim, so my dad and Carlos have met multiple times. Yes, I win, I am connected to the richest man in the world.

i hate to break it to you chief, but you aint exactly poor. you lived with them, and while you probly werent as wealthy, you were for sure well off.

do you consider yourself conceited and snobby? its all relative.

I know people who have REAL money in their families and other that dont, and some in between. All the groups have their fair share of dbags, and cool people. It has very little to do with their possesions or monetary wealth. People are just people.

my aunt and uncle are part of the rich scene in vancouver, met some really interesting people through them. I have had dinner at the house of the guy who used to own jones soda and it was the coolest house i have ever scene, it was like an ewok village house... it was built around a extremely large tree and had multiple lofts and decks completely around the house on each level. I have been to quite a few "old money family" houses in vancouver aswell.

why would you care if parents who didnt have anything growing up, want to give their kids everything they didnt get? so some of the kids in high school were snobby dbags...uh yah thats high school!

going with the longetivity... i'm heading to my great grandma's 95th birthday party in a couple of hours. she still lives by herself in her own home and walks up about 7 or so stairs every time she goes in. she is a trooper, 95 and going strong. my other great grandma died at age 93 a few years ago. it was a sad funeral yes, but she had a happy long life and at that age living a life like hers, she must have died a happy woman.

crossing my fingers for some of those genes

My grandfather grew up in a one room house with a dirt floor, then he went to school and eventually got a loan. With this loan he managed to buy one nursing home. He built a few more, and he now owns 24 throughout new england and has personally profited 66,000,000 $

another girl i was friends with in high school, her dad sold some sort of chip or software something or other and made a fortune. her house is the one in the middle $13 million.



we have a lot of very very wealthy people in my area which is cool but it fucking blows at the same time.
