whose the richest person you know, and what did they do to aquire their wealth?

You have to actually know this person too, like they would for sure greet you by your first name whenever they saw you...it cant be someone you met a few times.

One of my friends parents came up with some banking idea or something, sold it to multiple banks and profited, and now owns a bunch of properties and stores now(I have very little idea on how/what actually happened). Completely self made, he grew up lower class on a farm now he's a millionare. Pretty cool actuly

My grandmother is worth like 10 million because of all the lakefront property she owns in my area.  If anyone's familiar with Saratoga Springs,NY my grandmother is the 3rd richest land owner in the Saratoga County.  One of my dad's snowmobiling buddies though lives near DC and owns a huge construction company.  He's the poor guy in his crew though.  One of the other guys maybe 65-70 million a year as some sort of "financial adviser"

i could possibly take the win here for friend status. One of my closest friends dad is the Vice Chairman of GE(yes General Electric) as well as the CEO of GE Energy(responsible for all the windmills etc.). He lives right down the road and i probably am at his house basically every single weekend. The house is monstrous and literally has the ultimate basement, pool table, pinball machines, every gaming console, massive tv, dope pool right outside. They have a jet, 2 other huge houses, 5 vehicles, and many other luxuries. The sickest thing is, is that his dad is literally the coolest guy ever. He plays CoD with us, helps us build rail, and is just so down to earth. You would never think he was vice chairman of GE

Connected to their driveway is one of my friends girlfriends mom who is CEO of GE Home and Business Solutions.

My father is very close friends with multiple billionares that own 10,000+ sq.ft home. Those guys came from nothing too so their down to earth and its mad sweet chillin over there with their kids while my dad and his friends go golfing n shit. My dad is on his way to making a million dollars which is pretty cool imo. We're by no means rich though. Ummmm....my dad is also friends with one of the head people at mitsubishi(sp?) He lives in chicago really cool guy. One of my buddies is friends with the doctor who delivered lebron james' kids which is cool i guess.

whats weird is that i find the opposite is true...at least for me. Instead of working for the summer, my wealthy friends go on humanitarian missions to africa or central america. They are able to travel all over the world, and see and interact with all types of people.

Myself, the only time ive traveled outside the country, was to whistler...

It tends to be the middle to upper middle class kids that are very disconnected.

ive met a lot of super rich people workign at a 80k$ golfclub in FL, most members have 2500-10000 in credit on their accounts, maybe 1 or 2 have 100k$, but this one dude has a fucking million on his account, who the fuck is gonna spend that much moneyat a golf course that he needs a million fucking dollars!?

Otto Nemenz he's the second largest supplier of cameras to hollywood movies after panasonic.
One of my parents best friends. I stayed at their holiday house in Maui and it was incredible. Huge private cinema, pool, tennis court and amazing sea views. He's worth a lot, when ipods first came out he got us all one for christmas. Him and his wife are such lovely people.

Peoplesoft- the computer program. dated his daughter, went to his house many times then broke up with his daughter cause all she gave me for Christmas was a pack of gum, hehe.

Abbot Pharmacies- good friends with his daughter and have been to their house many times too.

Lin Ling potstickers- dont know if ypu've heard of them, come in a yellow bag in Costco usually, Good friends with his son and have been to their house a couple times.

I live in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the United States soo everyone at my school had a great deal of money.

Her names Ethel Winney.  When I worked at the Sagamore I always had to wait on the Bleck family from NYC.  I dont know how much money he has but it's a lot, he owns a bunch of pharmaceutical plants or something.  He rents out two adjoining rooms in the Sagamore's main building for two straight months.  Each room is at least 600-1000 a night, and when they remodel and paint the rooms every few years he pays to keep his the way he wants it.  He also throws BBQ parties every friday all summer for anyone at the hotel that wants to show up.  I never got to go because I was always working

Haha shit I totally forgot about my dad's friend/client who we've known forever. He has a $15mil mansion on the side of Beaver Creek that he lets us use sometimes, Porsche included. He also has 2 100+ foot yachts and 5 (I think) houses. I love knowing rich people haha.

Ha - it's not as simple as that.... 

I own property in London, out here and have all sorts of shit going on.....    so who know's.

Im only 31 - so for me at the minute it's all about working for myself, as much as i can on as high a rate a possible....    but trust me, right now - it's going pretty well...  it's just at that stage where University Education and then job experience (circa 10yrs now) is really starting to pay off...earn more then you can spend type of shit....  I work in a very specialized area, with huge demand for people all over the world - thus, rates for your time and skills goes up through the roof.  So that's always my advice - if you want to make money, make sure you go in to a career where there is a supply / demand deficit... i.e. lot of demand for skills, low supply of quality people. If you want to do marketing, sales, jouranilsm, acting!!! any of that stuff, that's fine - just know you're going in to industries flooded with people...  because the degree's are generally easier then say Engineering...    even lawyers...  america is fucking flooded with those useless tw*ts...   Engineering is going to blow up in the future because in 10 yrs time, there will be an estimated 50% less engineers then there are now in the Oil and Gas industry (based on kids going in to Engineering and the retirement train at the other end...guys earn big money, retire earlier...)....  yet a huge demand for their services.... 

Simply equals $$$ for you if you are a good engineer and understand the industry and the processes.

doubtful. Its actually a pretty sweet gig, as long as he doesnt do anything unethical. Anyways, the Hells Angels aint what they used to be, they got decimated a few years ago by like 50 simultaneous raids by the feds.

This thread is kinda funny... yet kinda filled with claim but in a not as arrogant way... its interesting.

Anyway I know a few but don't know the actual amounts of their wealth...

My Uncle owns a national lumber business and has a 13 million dollar house in arizona.... My cousin has now crashed and totaled 3 mercedes at the age of 24.

My old boss.... He was Christian Augiliers business partner (ed hardy) and my other boss was lindsey lohan's ex boyfriend and had a lambo and ducati...

The people I house sat for.... He own the film rights to a few different super hero movies and to War of the Worlds. Those were a good 2 months of my life....

John Cummings... the owner of Powdr Corp (Park CIty, Copper, Killington, Boreal and so forth)... He likes to hang out with the Marketing staff here cause he just bought Copper.

my friend from highschools dad is the owner of southwest airlines.

I have no idea who of these people is the wealthiest... i just know that they are all worth probably 100 million + each.

one of my mom's friends parent's are(were?) diamond merchants, when we were younger, she has a 7 foot tv in her basement(we're talking end of 1990's early 2000's so that shit was hella expensive). she worked in the school board somewhere, and her brother is a well known mtl plastic surgeon.

We owned the largest private packaging company in the U.S. that packages and distributes for Kraft Cheese, Sargento, etc. It's a corporation now but we still do the accounting, managing, etc. My mom, who has been in school her entire life and is the most amazing hard working person I know, has her master's degree in a few different medical fields and is now selling a copy right on some massive research project she did. Pretty damn proud of her.

I'm not going to sit around and boast about all our luxuries though, that's not how I was raised. We're modest. I got my first job at 14 at fucking McDonalds and have always had a job and I know I'm incredibly blessed. When I NEEEED something the money is there, but by no means am I spoiled.

my one good high school friend's family owns broil kind barbeques and a few stores called t.a. appliances. they're a super nice family, although my friend is a little elitist. really nice house, but not too huge or too crazy, but they've got a gorgeous cottage in muskoka, the extended family owns a huge cottage complex on the same lake, and they've got a slopeside chalet at holimont.

I ride and show horses, and through that I know a lot of people with more money than god. I'm not talking about the upper middle class, but the true top 1% of the population. And I've got to say, most of those kids are very nice, generous people despite having the world at their feet. I have a lot of respect for many of them.
