Do Ford Fusions have aluminum hoods? I think the body shop is feeding me a ton of shit, claiming they cant pop what amounts to a few hail dents on an aluminum hood because it will "crack the paint" and have to reshoot it. So they want me to get a new fucking hood.
Even then, pop the fucking dents, and re shoot it if it cracks. It saves me $750 for a new fucking hood.

I'm already going to go down and have some words with them today, what they quote me on labor was insane. 3.5 hours to replace a windshield? Yeah if you have kids that work at fucking walmart in your shop.
Windshield replacement is like 45 min TOPS, not 3 fucking hours.

In my auto shop class, it took three students with minimal knowledge of windwhield replacement to switch one out in 30-40 minutes. You are being bullshitted beyond bullshit.

it depends on how big the dents are, they could chip the paint if they are deep enough, but u dont need a new hood, just go watch them pop the dents out, it is a possibility that the paint could chip but its all cosmetics so i dunno about you but i could live with a hood that has paint chips. Worst comes to worst u just repaint the hood

$750!? tell them to go FUCK THEMSELVES. order a hood off the internet and install it yourself or take it to a reputable shop that isnt staffed by raging homosexuals and have them install it for $15 labor. i bet its $350 for a hood MAX. you could probably find one for $250 if you tried hard and like $140 for a used hood.

yeah that's fucking bullshit dude. i think the hood might be steel, did a quick google search. order an aftermarket one, nothing too flashy and i'm sure it'll be cheaper than 750. take it to a good shop and have them throw it on real quick

tough economic times, car sales and such are down, people don't want to pay for repairs unless they have to. businesses are going to over-quote you, they have to make a buck somehow.

Before you go bashing that shop, do some research. I recently had my windshield replaced and they charged me a flat rate of 3 hrs. It's pretty normal for a shop to charge for more hours so they have the needed time to replace it. Sure it's not the best for the customer but it's a pretty common practice. I'd call some more shops and ask them to give you an estimate. Call the dealership and see how much a new painted hood costs. Car painting isn't cheap and some cars take more work than others depending on the paint type. Just call around and get more info firsthand than coming to clueless newschoolers.

Dealership is the last place i want to go, the quote for this guys car from the dealership was 3 fucking grand. I know paint isnt cheap, but a goddamn hood does not cost 700 dollars. Fucking pulling the dents in the hood is cheaper labor than fucking 700 dollars.
If i had the whole thing my way i'd take the car to my town and get it fixed for a little less than a grand.

I've done my research, worked in a shop for several years and had to get other quotes of my own. This one by far has been the most ridiculous in parts and labor cost wise.
I dont go to a fucking body shop to replace a hood, i go there so you can pull my dents and shoot it and i'll be on my merry way. Any joe blow can replace parts.
