Another Camera Thread

so summers approaching and i want to make short films, skating edits and stuff. But i want to upgrade my camera. My budget right now is 2000-3000. I have a nikon d3000 and a lot of different lenses so if i were to go with a dslr i would have stuff (if it was a nikon). Im looking into the d7000, and my dream camera (only video) the panasonic hmc 150. Ive been looking at the hmc 150 for almost a year and have herd a lot of great things about it. Im editing with final cut if that helps anything.

HMC150 would be a great choice, or even a used HVX200. Those are both well in your price range.

sorry for the dub post but does anyone know the highest frame rate that the hmc150 can shoot? I really have a thing for smooth slow clips!

Depends what you need, if you need the 100 mb/s recording and the 4:2:2 color spacing then you'll need the hvx, but if you need the cheap recording to SDHC and the native 24p in 1080p then you'll want the hmc150
also note that both these cameras don't have full 1080p sensors but are rather pixel shifted so they can record 1080p
Oh and also the hmc150 will be sharper...

For the most part yes, full raster 1080p chips, VFR mode in 1080p(ac160 and hpx250 only), the HPX250 has 4:2:2 color spacing and avc-intra recording, the only downfall to these really are the cmos sensors(flash banding and rolling shutter) but this was neccesary to record full 1080p, because a 1/3 ccd sensor just can't do it.

barely. the pixel shifting 1080p looks great. i shoot 720 anyway
