By real majors you only mean engineering right? You can still major in math/comp sci/any science at CC.

Obviously you are going to be a in tough spot employment-wise if you majored in humanities unless you have some good personal connections. But every CU business grad out where I live is making shit money working shit jobs that you don't need a college degree for.

CC's degree carries far more weight in an equivalent major than CU's does. Probably because the kids at CC have an SAT score a standard deviation higher than those of kids at CU, can actually think analytically, write somewhat well and have had a far more rigorous education.

I have met some retarded kids at CC, but I have met exponentially more at CU.

I went to UW for a semester, definitely got the full college experience...and I much prefer CC.

What do you define as a "true college atmosphere?" I don't know the statistics off the top of my head, but I would bet there are a greater number of schools with 1,000-5,000 students than there are schools that contain 10,000-20,000+ (undergrad only). CC is a unique school, so you don't get the stereotypical big university antics with frats and large classloads, but you do get the opportunity to learn in many ways that you never get to experience anywhere else...that is something you really can't deny if you've ever attended.

having school pride...having D1 sports that the student body is 110% behind. The large freshman classes, rediculously smart profs that are their just for the research and teach cause they have to, large greek community, large thurs-sat party scene, homecoming is a big deal, seeing new people everyday you walk on campus, going to class with next years draft picks, being involved in research as an undergrad.


ya, basically what you think about when you think of a traditional american college experience.

yeah see I guess the thing is I don't give two shits about college/professional sports. I just play sports fun and it keeps me in shape. The professors here are dedicated to your class for 3.5 weeks, by the way. After that they do all the research they want. For those of us who are in school for the knowledge and learning as the #1 priority by and large, then CC is going to be a better choice for most (obviously depending on your learning style). I've constantly met new people almost every time I go out, as well. You just have to make friends in different circles. Kinda hard to meet and know 2,000 people in the first year haha.

Glad you enjoy the traditional experience, people need to go to those schools too. I just much prefer the discussion-based learning style as opposed to lecture-based.

Exactly this. I couldn't give a shit about college sports, greek life, or any of that. Like california said, to each his own. I couldn't be more stoked to be at CC next year.

This. and CC's hockey is D1 and pretty dirty. Although from what I've heard not to many people from CC go because the games aren't are campus...could be wrong.

on another joke, the honor system at CC is a fucking Joke. idk if they have changed it, but it is the easiest school in the world to cheat at.

what you think is a traditional college atmosphere is just a d1 school with school spirit... that's simply preference. People at CC have tons of school spirit regarding passion for learning and the school no necessarily a sports team or a mascot.

and the honor system of course is a joke if you plan on cheating your way through college and wasting your time.

CC is a great school. my dad went there and i 've been to a ton of reunions with him. I would have liked to go but i was not nearly focused enough in high school to pull the grades to get in. Beautiful campus too. and the hockey team rocks.

1. monarch is just as far from colorado springs as breck/keystone

2. monarch is a pretty legit mountain if you are looking for something other than park skiing. but I do agree their park is absolute shit

I got into Colby and decided to go to CC. didn't regret my decision once. you should tour both places if you can and decide for yourself.

your perception of how dangerous these drugs are is naive. but I won't go into that. and if you don't want to do coke it's not like it's up in your face at parties and there is no peer pressure by any means. I didn't even know so many ppl messed around with it there until halfway through my first year.

Most every school especially big schools, and small "rich kid" schools will have an ayo scene. whether you want to be a part of it is up to you...

Yep,

I'm a sophomore this year. Part of why I chose CC is because the student body is generally made up of some of the most amiable and down-to-earth people out there. Anyone can hold a conversation, and has something interesting to talk about. We work hard and play harder, CC kids are up to do stuff, not just sit around in their free time. Done with finals? how bout a sick trip to Moab or somewhere in Summit Co?

In the same vein, CC kids aren't about to pressure anyone into anything (except maybe going to psychedelic bowling.....you kinda have to go). If weed isn't your thing, coke, whatever...there's no problem with it.

Let me know any of you incoming freshmen (class 0f 2015) have questions.

Folks, if you've actually got something useful to say about the school ...more than bashing it because you go to a big state school ( or whatever te he'll is going on)...then say it. Otherwise, continue to label yourself as an inconsiderate dick. Frankly, no one cares if you hate any part or all of CC. We could sling shit at other schools endlessly, but what's the point? People end up where they end up for there own reasons, and that's that. Go bitch about what first drop suit is steezier or something like that, even that bickering would be more consructive
