I'm a freshman here and it's a ton of fun. Yeah, Breck is two hours away but buses run really frequently throughout the winter so if you're motivated you can definitely get quite a few days in for being a full time student. PM me if any of you guys have any questions about going to school here
Might well be going as class of 2016... Didn't know the philosofist went there. Just visited two days ago. School seems nice, town meh, skiing legit. Coke is one hell of a drug though.
Oh, and I feel I should tell all you applicants that there is a HUGE drug presence at this school...there is 'substance-free' housing available but I've never actually ever visited those rooms and I don't think it's a hub of social activity.
yeah there are social events put on a lot that you can go to sober...I mean it's not like everyone fits the lazy stoner stereotype. Lots to do outside around the springs as well, I'm sure you saw.
i dont think northeastern is harder to get into than CC but then again there is very little to understand about the college process and this year ended up being a really hard year to get in to schools. The college process is just a game...it sucks. sorry you didn't get in, but northeastern is an awesome school
Word, i don't particularly mind being around people who are high as long as they're coherent, and it seemed like a super active campus, a slack liner and at least 7 or 8 long boarders and tons of bikers in my hour or so tour.
that's crazy talk. Monarch is killer, and so is monarch pass. Breck, keystone, a basin, copper, winter park, vail and beaver creek all under 3 hours. not bad for the motivated rider. oh and the coke presence is only in certain circles, at least when i was there. but booze on the other hand is prevalent, like every college. it took me years to except that fact. but it is expensive and in c. springs, which blows in every aspect except outdoor access (but that doesn't matter so much cuz you rarely leave the CC bubble anyways). World class biking, hiking, climbing, skiing, kayaking, fishing all nearby. You don't even have to leave the the city limits for the hiking, biking and climbing. and the block plan is a big plus if you're into that. I thought the block plan was the best part.
shooting for class of 2018, hoping to maybe go there and play lacrosse, the only thing im worried about is how many people are in the freshman class total?
it is like a medium sized high school. one of the best parts about going to a large university, for me, was the ability to constantly meet new people through classes, friends, and extra curriculars. You dont really have that opportunity at CC. After the first semester, you pretty much know atleast, who everyone is.
I toured CC and hated it. Everyone seemed to be floating in their own world. Not to mention its a small liberal arts school that cost 52,000 a year. I'm hoping to get into Air Force I just need to get a congressional nomination
yeah ditto, i came out here and CC was my #1 choice, boulder was my "safety school" or whatnot, not really on my map. anyway, visted CC and hated the place, the people, the vibes, visited boulder on my way back to the airport and fell in love, happy as fuck i came to boulder now!
if all you want to do is party and learn nothing id go to boulder too. its all opinion, i agree boulder is amazingly fun, but post graduation the reputation of a school like CC is going to help you find a job.
If you're the kind of person that has any interest in Air Force at all, you probably won't like CC. No offense, but you're just an entirely different kind of person.
If you are considering the air force you were just wasting your time looking at CC. You're probably a douche as your congressional nomination will state, but you can still bang CC girls on the weekends and manicure your flat top in the dorms.
but CU actually has "real majors"...you have to hate math to go to CC.
And you also are gonna really really want to go to grad school immidiatly after graduation, cause it doesnt matter how good your schools rep is when you have a bullshit major, 3.5 gpa, above average talent, and a shitty economy.
Oh, and has anyone mentioned the rampant yay, and high school social structure?
basically that you go to a high school sized school where the options to meet people, and try new things are limited as opposed to a much larger university. and im fully aware that you "dont feel like you are missing out, and love it there", and that is because it is either THE right school for YOU, or because you havnt experienced anything different.
you dont get anything resembling a true college atmosphere there.
A good buddy of mine goes there and is a freshmen. He said he loved it but didnt get anywhere near the skiing in he would have liked. I could never live more than 30 mins from mountains personally, just been spoiled my whole life I guess haha. Im hoping to come party out there and visit him next year!
