What job dare i choose?

This summer i have 3 jobs lined up, and i can only choose 1.

The first is essentially being a mover, carrying tables, chairs, glasses, cutlery; and all that jazz; and delivering it to weddings/banquets/parties. Pay is 10.75 / hour, ~55 (unknown) hours /week. The only problem is its a hassle to get there, i need to take a 30 min subway ride and two 20 min transfer busses because i dont have a car because parking is so fucking expensive.

The 2'nd is working in an aluminum factory. Pretty monotone boring work operating a punch press. Pay is 13.50 / hour with 40 hrs/week. This one is much easier to get to.

The 3'rd is a finance/marketing internship at Pepsi. No pay. And again this one is a real hassle to get to; 30 min subway ride, 30 min bus ride.

what dare i choose?

if you want to get into business the last one for sure. but if its just a summer job id say the first

if you can find other means of more direct transpost, take job one. If you're working ~55 hours a week, that's overtime right there. And it adds up, quickly. It'd be worth the commute, plus, it seems more lively.

55 hours a week!?!? Holy fuck. I'd personally shred the second one and find something to do when you're bored/work is slow

Well if its a summer job your just tryna make some bills so the first one seems good. Even though its gonna cost alot for transportation, with those hours your gonna make bank.

The 2nd one definatley. I've worked 50 hour + weeks in the summer and it sucks.

yeee, the other benefit about the first is i could get much stronger carrying 80 lb tables all day

Take the second job. Work weeks over 50 blow. Plus you want to have time to do youre own shit and not just work. It's summer!

I think the aluminum factory would be best, obviously, because of the pay. The moving job could be good too though, would you possibly be working overtime? It would keep you in shape for winter as well.

All of them seem pretty awful. Im just chillen on a dock this summer for $12/hr making mad tips for filling boats up with gas and working for my dad for $60/hr, and that's easy work too.

Banquets work is excruciatingly repititive...set up, take down, set up, take down over n over n over forever.  Be a bellman at a nice hotel.  Valet etc. is a joke so easy and the money is supreme especially for the lack of physical labour

Number 1 or number 3. 1 if you need some cash flow, and number 3 if you are preparing to find a strong, stable job.

Probably option 2.

Fuck working for free.

I've done some long commutes for work and school, and doing several transfers and lots of time just to get to and from work can be exhausting. But that pay and expected hours/week could compensate.

second one. nice salary, and its always nice to get those boring/sketchy jobs and "get your hands dirty" type of thing at one point in your life. i had a job like that and i realized that it actually made me a better person. puts some hair on your chest in a way.

#1, you'll get some exercise, and most movers really try to milk the clock so you arn't going to be killing yourself moving other people's shit. Oh, and you will make tips.

Depends on how old you are I would think.. if you're 20 or under, the 3rd choice. You need to build a resume, and that will definitely look a lot better than the other two. If your over... maybe option 2 if you need the money bad, if not option 3

2 if money's tight (sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to get paid) and 3 if you're looking for future considerations and to build up your resume. look in the mirror, and ask yourself what it is you really want.. the money now, or the money later.

second, it pays well and boring work is still paying good money. its not a long time you will have to job so just suffer though, make money and have a fun rest of the year

dont get gas on anyones boat.


i applied at the marina across the lake from where i live, the guy didnt hire me (the perfect job candidate) and hired this scrawny little blonde fucker instead. so one day i pull up to get gas and the kid is working, its not a big deal he got the job instead of me, like w/e, i dont know him, he looks like a nice guy. he proceeds to pump like $4.00 of gas down the side of my boat. its not like it was rough or windy or anything, the dumb little shit is just too fucking dumb to hold a pump nozzle into a receptacle. i was all like "dude... really?" over the course of the summer i see the kid slack off and fuck up at other simple shit like catching boats and stacking boxes, shoulda hired me instead.



OP: im sorry for that off topic rant, go with job 2. 13.50 an hour? fuck yes.

overtime is negated by additional travel costs and lost free time.

The middle one - it's higher paid, easy to get to....  not going to be as knackering, and also you don't have to worry about fucking peoples weddings up if you forget something, destroy something etc - more spare time.  

That said the first could be a good laugh with some potential poon via weddings etc..... 

Internships are worth it if they are with a heavy weight company. Otherwise it's essentially slave labour and you should be paid regardless.

Was this hard to get? an apply / interview situation? If so - it could be worth it for the experience.

Def this. Or even if its not but its related to something that you want to do after you graduate I would take it. Working for free sucks no doubt but it obviously has a better long term effect.

If thats not the case def the second job. I worked in a warehouse at Symbol Technologies way back in the day. It wasnt so bad. It had its fun moments like fork lift racing down the aisles.

You should do the Internship - then get an evening job a few nights during the week....   at a bar / restaurant or something....  that way you get best of both worlds.
