i love golf. favorite sport to play in highschool. I havent swung a club since last summer. which is deppressing. Id say in midsummer prime im a 6 or so. depends on the day

My brother gave me the same advice the other day at the driving range. I had a really weak grip before, but changing it only helped a little. He keeps saying how I'm sliding my hips instead of turning, so I guess that's what I'll be working on today. Thanks though :D

ya the grip thing is what was doing it for me. this is how i fixed it: (im a righty, so if youre a lefty just do the opposite) i kept telling myself to position my right hand on the grip so that the line in between my thumb and index/hand would point to my left shoulder. felt weird at first, but i stopped slicing it in the end.

i was always just a shitty/average golfer, than when i was 17 and had a job during the year and had nothing to do during the summer, i dropped some dough and took lessons every day for a week straight, and right after my lesson i would go play a round. i think i dropped at least 15 strokes by the end of that week. its crazy how good you can get at golf by just getting out there often and practicing.

im playing on the high school team next fall so ill be playing a lot during the summer.  i dont know my handicap off the top of my head,  but i usually shoot about a 35 on 9 hole courses which is what im usually playing on

Solid, I wish our high school season was in the fall. it would make life a hell of a lot easier. the way it is now, we have like 3 weeks to warm our swings up (me even less because i'm out skiing still) before our matches.

Alright all you golfers of NS, I've got a problem to be fixed. I don't play much, but when I do I'm usually embarrassed with my results. My wedge/putting game isn't bad, I'm usually out of whatever is needed in 1 shot, and don't 3 putt hardly any holes each round. My game needs improvement on driving more than anything. I went through a series of slices (when I was a noob) and now am struggling with hooking the ball off the tee too much. What can I do to change this?

i've had that problem. with me, it was because of my grip, and all around swing plane

make sure you grip the club correctly first off. then once you have that down, start using an alignment stick and place your ball on one side so that the heel of your club is about a centimeter or less from the alignment stick, set your feet up parallel to the stick and try to hit the ball without hitting the alignment stick.

my drives were horrible at the start of the season last year, so i watched a bunch of youtube videos and tried a bunch of the tips that i saw on those until i fixed my swing.

thats what im trying now, my irons and short game are good but my driving is awful. I shoot 6 or 7 over par usually and once i fix my drive that should go down

Finally made it out for the first time of the season for a quick 9 before family came in for easter. Shot a 48. Not exactly where I'd like to be, but not too bad. This is my second season actually really getting into golf.

bro youve got good form but from the views i can see that you are getting the clubface square at the top. your start is a lil too wristy. you do this and you'll be spot on im serious. im sorry i had to do this its a habit after 13 straight years and alot of teachers

for all you golfers that are having trouble it is all about simplicity. te less unnecessary movement the better. for the last 7 years i HAD to watch sergios swing exactly 100 times a day over and over (my dads nuts). from the bottom there should be barely any wrist movement. at the top you should make then make the wrist movement to create lag (lag creates an increase in the compression speed once the club makes contact thus creating crisp contact and of course longer ball flight) MAIN KEY TO CONSISTENT FLIGHT IS TO KEEP THE HEAD DOWN

for those beginners that want a draw work on this simple points (these are for rh players those lh of course do opposite)

put move right foot behind (move it back vertical not horizontal(looking down))

get further away from the ball this makes your swing more flat for a steep swing is more a neutral to fade flight)

grip you need to make a stronger grip not meaning by pressure but by hand position( this is for a right handed player) take left hand place it to its neutral normal position. then place right hand on then spin right hand to the right slightly.

these changes in stance and grip cause your right shoulder to move more back (explained by you shoulders should be aiming to the right of the target). when the shoulder is back and the swing is flatter the ball is hit on the inside curve.

once you become comfortable with your shots and you are consistent play with the grip stance and aim to change the ball flight
the key is to make these changes feel uncomfortable (if you are not uncomfortable then you havent made the change) you need to develop muscle memory. again practice makes perfect.

Yeah i had been playing for years being taught by top teaching pros from numerous camps ans facilities such as the david leadbetter academy (basically the golf facility of windells except golf is boring). local pro jerry heard came close to winning a few majors but do to being struck by lightning twice that seemed to ruin a few things develop major short game technics.

most importantly guys and galls that are serious about this sport like most sports it is all about your head. if you hit a bad shot move on its no the end. dont focus on the longer clubs too much the majority of shots are 150 and closer. if you guys have fun then every aspect is totally sublime (although i was not able to experience golf nirvana because once again my parents are nuts and my rebelios sister showed me pyb) so have fun

Played a full 18 for my first time out this year and shot 85. Went back out a few days later for 9 and shot 39 which I thought was solid for a second time out. Hopefully the weather wont be so shitty so I can play some more this weekend.

bout an 8 but trending much lower. don't play golf very often, but i do study the swing a lot and can really hit the ball like a plus.

loooove TGM and swing theories etc. anyone here that into swing analysis? anyone here so nerdily into golf they know what a tourstriker/PBS/talymindset is? haha

I am guilty. I sometimes spend hours watching tour swings on the computer. I cant get enough of it. I also play almost everyday i dont have class work. College is a bitch sometimes. I also have the golf channel on constantly. So ya i would say i am very obsessed, much more so than skiing.

I just bought a optishot golf simulator and it's fucking amazing. I can play on 9 different courses all from my basement, and I'm using my real clubs and balls hitting into a net. Plus it was only $250 and it's comparable to ones in the pro shops

It shows how far, loft, angle of attack, the flight path of the ball, and your swing broken down and it shows you how your clubface was lined up at the point of impact, before impact, and after which helps alot. I havnt figured it all out yet, but it's really cool and surprisingly affordable. The net I bought was more expensive than the simulator

Just golfed Chambers Bay up here in WA. First round of the season, Dad took me for my 24th bday. Such an epic course. Shot a 45/43 so didn't do too well, but it was my first round of the season so I was dusting off some cobwebs. Finished last season with a round at Palouse Ridge which is WSU's new course. Super nice as well. Gunna suck coming back to reality and playing at the more average muni courses I am used to. Don't care though I love golfing!
