Possibility of Exaggeration or Fabrication in Greg Mortenson's Books

Greg Mortenson, the author of Three Cups of Tea and Stones Into Schools has been the subject of a recent 60 Minutes investigation in which the show found evidence of fabrication in his books as well as questionable financial practices by his charity.

What do you guys think of this? I really liked Three Cups of Tea and I think the cause is a really worthy one. I'm pretty disappointed to hear about these kinds of allegations.

idk.  i really like 3 cups of tea too.  i mainly don't want the allegations to be true because then it means i had a fast one pulled on me.  really ridiculous if his stories were all fake??  anyway, i'd like to see better evidence...

that book was self serving tripe. horribly written. shallow and pedantic. i was glad when it was done.

The book portrayed Mortenson as some kind of demi-god, and that was a little over the top, but the message is a good one. Even if you didn't like the book, you have to admit that if Mortenson really fabricated or exaggerated parts of his story and really does take advantage of his own charity, his actions would hurt his cause much more than they would hurt him.

three cups of tea was a great story but poorly written. his organization is a great one, the hindu kush panhandle of afghanistan into pakistan and china is a shitty ass area with virtually no schools so he's got a good mission, i just hope he's not full of shit
