The Importance of the NS Callout

As it has been sometime since the call out was established more and more new NSers are totally unaware of the call out. First, as most veteran NSers know, the call out does work, and should be used openly, as it either results in the establishment that both parties are on NS, or it educates people about NS. Both wins. Second, for all of you who don't know the callout, though I cannot fathom how that is, the call out is:

Party 1: Hey, how do you get to Chad's Gap from the bottom of Alta.

Party 2: Ski Patrol blew it up.

and then boom, instant friends.

I once saw a kid with a ns lanyard and I got so excited that I made the mistake of saying "Do you know how to get to alta from the bottom of chad's gap?"

i've tried a couple times and it never works

me- "excuse me, do you know how to get to chad's gap from the bottom of alta?"
person with ns paraphernalia- "lol wut <trollface>"
me- "newschoolers?"
person- "olol my friend liek goes on there sometimes lol"

Was skiing at Snowbird yesterday with some people I actually met through the call out, and so we were trying the call out on others. ran into a kid, wearing a fucking thuggie and airraids and barely knew what we were talking about. then this other guy was wearing xl saga, and when we asked him if he was on ns, he said no like we asked if he had aids.

fuck ya I love that callout. NSer = Instant friend in my book.


twas fun to ski with this kid, especially since we were both visiting snowbird and had no idea where we were going.

I got to get around to doing this, I just haven't yet...my car is decked out in NS/Ski Company sticks though.

Just gotta keep trying bro.

It works, just gotta find the right person.

also if they say no, if they are not a douchebag about it, it still breaks the ice, if they are not on NS, who gives a fuck, ask them to ski, chances are you'll make a new friend!

so weird.......in mexico, resturant, see a kid wearing an old NS shirt, i go up and i am like you dude, i like your shirt. Says thanks, he's from Denver. not really a callout but it was funny to meet a ns'r in mexico

i race skicross, so most of the time i'm in the park i am straight-airing jumps on race skis, so i feel awkward calling people out.
I still rock ns sticker on my helmet, pow skis, and even on the race skis, though

I did have a nice awkward ns encounter with elgato, was considering using the callout, but he asked me if i was on ns first

used it on some dude with surfaces at stowe vt on a pow day that straight up fucking ripped that kept on saying "chowdaaaaa!"

hahaha, ended up shredding the rest of the tree run down behind him. it was chill. wish i would've got his ns name though!

Called out a couple super steezy kids at the top of the triple at Big Sky, they totally got it, then proceeded to crash down Exit Chute on park skis, after I straightlined it.

Priceless.

Out of the many times I have done it, I rarely get a good response. Most times I get an expression similar to if I had just yelled a racial slur at a liftie.

Only once have I gotten back "ski patrol blew it up". I was stoked.

Never tried it although sometimes I reply to stories with "cool story Hansel," not really NS specific though. I'll start calling out every kid a momentum during session 4.

I worked as a lifty at my local mountain. And one time I was at the top shack when my coworker/friend at the bottom calls up and says "hey, there are two kids down here asking if anyone knows how to get to chad's gap from the bottom of alta... Do you know?" i answered him with some excitement that some NSers where on their way up. But it just turned out to be 2 of my close homies haha.

there was this lifty at hood. and he had newschoolers on his goggles and i made the call out.. and he was like wtf.. so the next time around i ask him if he was on. and he was like nah brah i snowboard my homie gave me theses. but i used to just strait up ask people. next time im going up im rocking a one piece and my sick ass line weapons and i will be calling out ever one.
