is just straight up retarded. why do people do it, like my roommate? i chose not to go out and drink tonight because i want to get up early and get my last turns in at my hill for the closing day. this fucker comes storming in here at 1 in the morning with an entourage of equally socially retarded people and begin slamming scotch and immediately gets obnoxious and out of control. anyone have any suggestions on how i can nicely tell him to GTFO?

its shitty, but its college. i had to deal with that shit every weekend freshman year, our room was the party room and after i stopped going out every night it was tough to get uninterrupted sleep

I would much rather drink in the dorms, but I think it has to be established before hand that shit is going down. Randomly storming in or doing it ALL the time is pretty uncalled for, especially if you let them know you're upset with it.

Do you live in a double? if you're trying to sleep and your roommate walks in straight up tell him "I'm sleeping, get the fuck out." No need to be polite about it.

Drinking in residence was so much fun. It's like all the room parties join and make the whole place one big party. If you're underage and living in dorms it makes perfect sense. Busting in to a shared room with a bunch of dudes at 1AM isn't exactly part of that though. You have the right to tell him to leave. Drinking/being loud in a common room not only gives you more space, but nobody gives a shit if you're chilling there late.
Once you're legal or have a fake though dorm parties lose their novelty really quick. So if that's your situation I understand being super pissed.

^for real. From what I remember about the dorms no one went to school and everyone drank and smoked all day, mostly in the dorms. I only met my the floor admin once, he straight moved out after winter break. A pregnant chick moved into room next to mine with her four year old child, her name was Nancy and even she partied hard. College I guess.

This. I had a single room and it had benefits but i'd do a double if i could do it again. Ended up chilling in my friends' double room more than my own building because it was sick. Met more friends and girls through them because they always had new people chilling there, rather than being cramped up in a lil single room.
Then again, I think it was just my hallway that sucked. Everyone else's buildings got super tight, and lots of them were all single rooms as well. A roommate just makes it way easier to get the connection and friend making started.

Yea it sucks, my roomates did that in the past when i had to get up at 6 the next morning to observe in a classroom. Even when I told them to keep it down, it was just impossible for them.

Go straight in there with the scariest rustiest sharp object you can and act like you sleep walking then stab the shit out of a pillow or the wall then go wave the sharp object around in there direction then pretend to wake up and be like "The fuck? i guess i was sleep walking againe" then slink back into your bed and leave the sharp oblect stabbed into the floor next to your bed. should scare em away.

i can't request a teammate freshman year. so many of my friends who row in college have had terrible experiences with roommates and getting no sleep. i may go for a double though, we'll see

Honestly, a single isn't too bad. I had a roommate my freshman year and we always were chilling in other peoples' rooms other than ours. A single would be prime cause you can always bring a girl back and not worry about having a roommate there. Plus, you can sleep whenever, jerk it whenever, and do whatever you want at any time. And unless your not that social, you'll be spending most nights in other peoples' rooms anyways. A single with some good friends around you is the prime situation IMO.

do you already have a bunch of friends? does the rowing team throw banger parties or have their own house? if the answer is yes then get the single. otherwise you'll have a harder time making connections.

i fucking hate my roommate. he's an anti-social shrew that spends 23.5 hours of the day in the room. i'm so glad that i'm living in a 4 bedroom house with 3 other kids next year and won't have to have someone who might as well be chained to their desk in my room.

the kids to my right drink in the dorm/come back drunk with other drunk ids all the time. it's annoying as fuck. especially during the week. plus they make a mess of everything, clog all the toilets, and are loud.

every person i know who is in or has been in res drank there. i even attended parties that were literally held in the common rooms of the res, with sound, blacklights, the works

the RA's dont seem to care. these are all ontario universities for the record

Yeah but if he is actually busy the next day it's always nice to be a responsible non-fuck up that people can count on. No, that doesn't mean you are a total bitch. It means you are smart and can figure shit out. Yes you can have friends and not have to party every night. Hell call me a pussy all you want, I don't drink. he said he wanted to wake up early to go skiing.

the amount of times i went skiing after a 4 hour night of sleep, not to mention hungover.. it aint gonna kill you.

if the thread was about a constant issue of people being pricks every night until like 4am, then thats a different story. a couple dudes being loud at 1am is hardly a big deal, especially when you're going skiing the next day and not to a 10hour shift at work where you need to have a functional brain.
