Spray paint on skis?

has anyone evey spray painted skis? and then used them?

just wondering. i'm thinking of trying it cuz i have a pair of crap skis for late season stuff. they aren't so awesome looking so i might make em look a bit cooler.

thoughts?

never heard of that before but i could imagine that making them heavier. also you might need to put another coat of pain to waterproof it if you do do it

Cleaned them super good, didn't sand at all.  Clean with soap and water once and alcohol once.  Lasted a whole summer and they were still going.

spray paint is waterproof.

you're talking about doing a clear coat which will protect your work of art. the end.

tried to stencil a skullcandy thing on my freinds ski, didnt work as well as we wanted

It's not that hard, I stencil my skis with a new design every year. I always keep it pretty simple. Here's what I had this year:

I lightly sanded the topsheets, added 10 layers of white, then taped my stencil down and did 7 layers of black and 3 layers of clearcoat on top. Worked fine. Last year I had 2 9mm's but I can't find a picture...It's supposed to be a suit btw

you can do it, it's just gonna scratch and peel off a ton, probably more than you'd think. my friends and i used to give my beater street rail skis paint jobs all the time, when i wasn't looking they'd make them bright pink with dicks all over and shit

i spray painted mine a few weeks ago- my boots too. Both are old and being replaced so i figured why not? It looks sweet but i didn't use waterproofing or anything so I have had to reapply a couple of times

i would be tempted to do a light sanding job on them, just gives the paint a little more to hold onto.

Use rustoleum. Doesn't chip/peel/scratch or any of that crap. Definitely does not make the skis heavier, thats the dumbest thing I have ever heard. You don't need to sand or put a clear coat over top.

i bought skis from a guy that have spray paint on them, and it will not come off no matter how hard i try. so i just spray painted a cooler design over it. and it doesnt come off.
