So many mountains around new england have them, but fuck that... If your making your parents spend tens of thousands of dollars to send you to a ski academy for a couple months(AKA you're a rich mother fucker), go somewhere out west with dope snow and gnarlier mountains.
Then again WVA/CVA/OMS have put out a number of pros at this point so if that's your true goal (which I hope to hell it is if you're making your parents spend such an obscene amount of money for a few months of skiing)
Vermont Academy is more along the lines of a conventional boarding school, but has an up-and-coming Freeski team...
-on snow 6 days/week -- 4 days Okemo, 2 days on our own ski hill w lift, rails, cat, snowmaking, lights
-really cool crew of skiers, some legit talent
-equal emphasis on filming, competing
-school claims alumni such as New Intel's Evan Williams, and some guy named Ian Compton
- annual water ramp camps, Breck trip, whistler trip...

I completely agree with you that ski academies are expensive, but people don't have to go to a ski academy just because they want to go pro. Theres tons of people who go there to ride just because they have a true passion for skiing. Skiing is not just all about money, sponsors etc. And some families are wealthier than others.
I grew up riding with the waterville academy kids and was friends with many of them, still am with a few. I wish my family could've sent me there and I tried hard to get my parents to find a way. But I wanted to be a pro skier more than anything else.
All I'm saying is that if you're going to make your parents, no matter how rich, pay $10,000+ for a couple months of HS so that you can ski more.... you better make something it.
I'm 100000000% in agreement that skiing is far more than money and sponsors.
Yes, 10,000 dollars is a lot of money and, some people don't send their kids there just for the purpose of doing something with their skiing/snowboarding. I think if parents work hard enough where they make the salary that is good enough to go to a school like CVA/KMS/WVA, and if they really love their kid(s), they will send them. Not just for the mere thought of becoming a pro. Yes, I do agree with you that a BIG percentage of kids go to a ski academy so they can do something with it. But not all kids are going there to become pro, thats all Im saying.
