Surface One life vs New life

I have been searching for reviews and anything i have found is not a quality review. So how does each ski hold up, preform and flex (stiffness). I do know the one life is stiffer but how stiff?
any help would be good

Made it awhile back. Feel free to use it, some feedback would be good too if you're up for it.

One Life is pretty stiff, it'd be more ideal for charging, stiff very playful. New Life would be more playful, deep powder skiing type ski.

One lifes are extremely stiff, but they are really playful because of the rocker. I have felt race skis softer than my one lifes, its insane.

solid review, I really want something around the flex of my domains, maybe a little stiffer. After your review i think the one life would be too stiff, so im considering the new life. However im looking for something that is not symectrical (sp) that can take on groomers and also knee, thigh deep powder
any ideas?

The thing about their stiffness is that they can hold up when you're going fast. No chatter or anything. Still super playful though. Butterable, can handle and rip groomers, and still float amazing.
I haven't skied the New Life yet though, they have no camber underfoot. Don't really know how that would perform when it comes to groomers.

yeah i guess with that much rocker you need a stiff ski. Im just skeptical going with such a stiff ski for jibbing around in powder, i just dont want to go with the ep pro or hellbents and have something too wide and too floppy

well in my experience, they're pretty fun to play around with in pow. What are you looking to doing in pow?
I've been able to butter in pow, land switch off jumps and cliffs, anything really.
New Lifes should hold up fine when it comes to getting to the bottom of the mountain.
If you're looking for a more powder/jib ski. Go with the New Life. If you're looking for a more Big Mountain/Powder ski, go with the One Life.
There is a cross over there.

Also, the New Life rocker isn't as big as the One Life.
I wish I had more experience towards the New Life, instead of just research and skiing with some people with them.

Two of the best skis ever made. I've owned both, and am currently riding the New Life. Both are stiff, but the OL is REALLY stiff. Both are incredibly playful and kill any kind of terrain. The NL is fun in the park if you're just cruising due to the symmetrical shape. You couldn't go wrong with either. Also, definitely get em big because they ski real short.

well i would be doing alot of hiking, hitting small cliffs, trees and some kickers (nothing too big). The area im hiking is fairly tight trees (some open spots) with knee, thigh deep powder. I would also be using them in just hard pack trees along with groomers and maybe even some park (not likely)
I like the idea of the new life but i want something that takes on everything and i already have a a centermounted ski for park. I just want something i can have fun on, that is cheap and durable (two seasons?)

I Have the One Life as well, great ski, feels super solid on big hits, no chatter at speed, feels great switch in pow and on groomers. Definitely not a goomer ski, but you will still be more than capable of ripping the groomed run back to the lifts. They are also super stiff, but it hasn't bothered me at all.

I would definitely recommend them, if you aren't sure try to demo them, you wont be disappointed!

Although they have less rocker, look into the Live Life too. It's kind of inbetween both. Fat (120mm in the waist), medium stiff flex. Would be great for everything you want, but without having a big, stiff ski.

And they'll last. My One Lifes stiff have full life in them. After one and a half seasons of skiing them hard. I've killed and broken every other ski, except for my One Life.
I say half season because I didn't get out to Kicking Horse/Home all too much this season.

Just watch their bases.

Okay, they seem to match what i want much better. I am also considering Mr. pollards opus from line but i dont know. Bases are a large concern for me, there are many sharp rocks in the area i want to ski in

Just remember to fix them. I only had base problem, went straight over some jagged rocks instead of jumping over them.. Patched it, all was good, then tore the patch out at the beginning this season. Didn't fix it because I wouldn't be skiing them all too much this season. They got rotten. My fault, not Surfaces.

Also, what size are you?

That's the one thing I don't like about my one lifes, shitty base. It is extremely thin and not durable. I haven't even skied them more than 10 days and I have a core shot. I don't have anything through the base of any pair of my Line's, and I have straight up stomped on jagged rocks with them with barely a scratch. I never even remember hitting anything on my one lifes. I has kinda disappointed with that.

can't go wrong, but ima have to recommend one lifes.

you said you're skiing trees...i love mine in tight east coast trees. they ahve the float of a fat ski, but the rocker makes them super nimble.
i've been skiing mine in extremely slushy east coast park conditions and tehy're super fun for that. once you learn how to fully butter them, (get wayyy up on the tips and get the super stiff flex to snap you back into spins), they're endless fun for dicking around on groomers and park as well. i learned urban 270s on to rails the other day with my 189s.

I disagree i can ride my one lifes fine on groomers yeah they arent ideal but they are fine. Super fun ski for charging and on rails they feel amazing.
