So im working on my season edit, and i just was wondering if there was any way you could increase the picture quality of the video on imovie. (we had to work with a lower quality camera for the majority of the season) or is the quality all based on the camera? (clearly a camera thats HD will come out better than one without) anyways, help with this would be much appreciated.

there are things you can do in your editing program to get the most out of your camera's image quality, but there are no ways to actually make it better.

basically you just want to make sure your timeline settings match that of your camcorder. but you're using imovie so i would be that you don't have a problem there.

somebody with more imovie expertise could probably answer this a little better than i could

Well you can't magically gain resolution, but the things you can do to make your video look better is adjust the contrst and do some color correction.

I'm not too familiar with Imovie, but a lot of times there is a video effects filter called sharpen. This can help you just a wee bit in smoothing out some of the edges, but if you get too carried away with the intensity it's quite noticeable. Try that out, hope it works, but normally whatever the quality is when you shoot is what you're stuck with in the end.
