i hated failing classes for being in the fucking hospital and the registrar's office not letting me drop them because it was past the withdrawal deadline.

um i had a broke hip, tailbone, and a medical device implanted in my body for three months, and you expect me to sit in a classroom and learn biomechanics and physiology. awesome.

Not trying to start a debate, but quit bitching. Everyone in public schools really take for granted for what they're getting. An education is soooooooo important and you cant get anywhere without it. It also happens to be free, which only a handfull of countries offer. Just my 2 cents

The worst part about high school is that you take 7ish classes, each an hr, every day for fucking like what 4-5 months? That would be 35 credit hours per semester in college, over double what is considered full time ANNDD you learn way less. I learned the same amount of shit in my high school stats in the first two weeks of college stats, my year long algebra 2 class was covered in less than a semester of precalc in college. I wish high school would be efficient.

I hate school (at least my school) but I love education. A lot of my teachers are incompetent and unqualified to teach. For instance, a teacher tried to tell me that there was no gravity in space, and since the moon was in space there was no gravity on the moon. I asked her if she had seen the videos of the Apollo 11 moon landing and how the astronauts stayed on the moon without floating away. Her answer? "They wore heavy boots". I'm in the process of getting approval to skip senior year and just be out.

did everybody in this thread grow up in fucking nigeria or some shit? high school sucks. you have to learn shit you could not give two fucks about, you have to wake up early, you have to do homework, you have to study, the list goes on. the best part about school is seeing your friends everyday, most of the in class stuff is BULLSHIT. and before everybody jumps on my back here i attend classes 90% of the time and do my work, im allowed to bitch about this shit.

Seriously, as a business major why do I need to take a chinese history class? How is that going to help the average business student? Out of say 1000 business majors at my school (over a few year period obviously, not one year) how many are going to end up in China. Maybe one or two?

coming from a kid that graduated high school, went through undergrad, and is now working while doing graduate course work- you'll be glad you worked hard in high school, and will realize while the content isn't so important, the fact that you worked hard is. Keep working hard- it'll be worth it in the long run

Yeah college can be BS too from what I've heard from my brother who is in his junior year, but such is life.

The hard work did pay off, but I'll be honest - my GPA has taken a dip in my senior year. I've become more apathetic now that I know all the necessary hard is done with and I'm already accepted and have committed to a college.

In fact, the only reason I'm up right now is because I procrastinated the balls off of re-writing my practice AP exam essay.

i just fucking hate math. i hate it to a level people cant even really comprehend. like i can start things on fire and light up strings of Christmas tree lights just by focusing my intense and burning hatred of all things math.

seriously, i can add subtract and multiply just fine. i can also make some graphs and shit and do a couple equations and find a variable here or there. now stop fucking requiring me to take math courses. i am not fucking skilled at mathematics. i do not fucking care about learning more mathematics. i thought once i got to fucking college i could stop taking all these fucking math courses but no, it just wont stop. i am proficient in many other areas, i will never need to use any of this gay fucking math shit so i do not understand what i need it for, jesus fucking christ i hate it so much it is unreal. i dont care who you are or how much more money you think you are gonna make then me because you are good at some gay fucking trigonometry or fucking mega calculus bullshit, if i cant do it with the main functions of a non graphing calculator i dont want to fucking see it. if you love math or excell at math, good for you, seriously, you have achieved something i possibly never might do, but leave me the fuck out of it.

because i have to get up at 6 everyday, go to school, lacrosse, and get home at 8, do about 3 hours of homework, and get about 6 hours of sleep.

and i dont see the need to know a lot of what we learn. i dont think i will ever need to know that sin(x)cos(y)=(1/2)[sin(x+y)+sin(x-y)]. which is part of what i have a test on tomorrow

Glad to hear its paid off so far. Parts of college can be BS- a lot of your first year or two you take a whole bunch of random shit that you'll never need again. The best thing to do with that though is take stuff you're actually somewhat interested in (maybe not interested in pursuing for a career though). It'll make it much easier, you'll be stoked on learning something new, and it'll broaden your mind. About halfway through your sophomore year or start of your junior year college turns from BS to 'better learn this shit now because I'll be graduating soon enough and need to actually be good at this'. If you keep up your work ethic (don't worry about senior year hs-thats just a good time in your life to have fun before starting the next step of your life), you'll continue to do well and find yourself in a position with a lot of options down the road.

I had the best math class my sophomore year, algebra 2, my teacher let me listen to music while he lectured because i still took notes and aced every hw/quiz/test. very true. i always hear people in class say "when will i ever use this shit". it is true that ~90% of information you learn in university you will not need to know for your job. lets say you are getting an accounting degree. you may have to take a course in computer science or philosophy. when an employer looks at your resumue they want to see if you have a degree. graduating with a degree in anything shows you that you have a capacity to learn, solve problems, etc. this is what they are looking for. a lot of the knowledge you need for a job will be taught to you, employers just want to be sure you can learn it.

you cannot put a price on education. you are only given two things when you enter this world, a body and a mind (sorry i am currently studying for final exams)

i do not understand why so many people complain about school. it should be the best time of your life. when you graduate you are going to spend the next ~30 years working. i do not know what is so appealing about working full time

The only counter argument is about working the next 30 years......If you love what you do, you don't look at it as working, so for some people they want to get out of school so they can have fun (work)

Honestly, I'm going to miss going to school for the ten weeks I have off for summer. School makes me feel useful and I enjoy being around people. The first two weeks of summer are awesome, but after July 4th, it basically sucks dick because it's so hot and I feel so useless.
