Unique rails

basicly build a frame, like normal, but with the desired hight/shape. then instead of using like a 2x4 or 2x6 for the top (where u screw the pvc) use multiple thin boards (no more then 3/4 in thick) and screw them onto the frame/verticle soppourts. you will need to do at least 2 layers of these boards, depending on the thickness. you will want to staggar them on the second layer. then just basicly screw the pvc in on one end and bend it and secure it on the other end (smaller tubes will bend esier) and if u need to use smaller pieces of pvc for a esier curve.

So would building a C rail involving PVC be the same sort of principle? Use boards less that 3/4" thick and layer them, then bend the PVC pipe and secure it?

could you not make them like you would a skateboard ramp? where you cut the curve out of plywood twice and use those for the sides then in the middle attach the plywood with 2x4s then put more plywood over the 2x4s then attach your pvc?

I'v biult a rainbow and a C, both work perfect. For a rainbow,  i built the frame, and then on the top used two layers of 1x4, as apposed to 2x4s, and soaked them in water first, they bent perfectly. As for pvc, it just bent nicely using 1 1/2 inch pipe.

The C was a little more comlicated, i used 2 8' 2x4s, cut each in half, gave it a 7.5 degree cross cut on each, and attached them using playwood panels also cut with that angle. then just add feet at each of the intersections for support, and give a foot brace with a little more emphasis on the outside so it doesn't lean or tip over, and for pvc i used 2 inch pipe, and had a friend pull it to bend it as i screwed it, i screwed it from both ouside in and inside out to solidly hold it in place.

just wondering, has anyone tried to build a c-rail thats also slanted and has a rainbow-like curve to it?

Granite peak has a bunch like that but i have a feeling it would be suppper hard to make out of wood. Not saying it cant be done though
