Current situation: I've been going to a gym and jumping into foam pits off trampolines about once a week for the last few weeks. After that, as well as after some intense cycling sessions, I'm getting some pain just under the tuberosity, and even right on the surgery area. Some of the nerves haven't reconnected yet so it might be referred pain...the most pain is probably coming from the exact site of the surgery. Its not so painful that I can't walk on it but if I stand on that leg and lean forward (like you might do in ski boots) then I can feel the pressure and pain on that spot about 3 inches below my patella.
What I think is happening is that the piece of bone that was cut out and moved over and then screwed in (taking the ligament with it) hasn't completely healed yet. Hence when I put a lot of pressure through it by jumping or cycling its hurting a bit. I'm seeing the surgeon again in a few weeks but when I told him about this problem last time I saw him a few weeks ago he wasn't really much help.
So essentially what I'm trying to do is make that piece of bone heal faster. Will taking calcium supplements help this? Is there anything else I can do? Its hard because I need to balance gaining strength in my leg (the muscle wastage was epic) with allowing the tuberosity to heal.
Good responses greatly appreciated (if you broke a bone and got it to heal quickly I want to know how!)
Sparknotes: Dislocated knee, had surgery, getting pain, help me make it go away.
