For those of you that still aren't convinced that Bobby Brown has style
Bobby is a dope skier, first and for most. I respect him and love watching him ski. That said, he doesn't have much style and this edit is perfect proof of it. He has enough style to the point that tricks don't look sloppy but in that video he doesn't grab much or really do anything with that much style.
Forget 1:17 the whole edit is so steezy. Although 1:03 is particularly stylish as well. If he wore XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL clothing people would think he is as steezy as the rest.
What's the difference between the two? I always considered Tom Wallisch the model of style because he throws smooth tricks followed by stylish, clean landings. Now I'm not saying Bobby Brown is as stylish as Tom Wallisch, but what makes them so different?
Bobby has the best double cork 10 mute in the business, hands down. So slow and slow smooth, so to say he doesn't have style seems weird to me. And just wait until you see him in the next PBP movie. You're going to be blown away.
yeah like the way wallisch skis is so perfect (see 4bi9 bonus edit) that it makes bobby look a tiny bit forced. i'm not sure how to say it. that said, bobby absolutely slays, and i'm so bad compared to him i shouldn't judge.
does bobby have style yes, but who doesnt?
his style is more textbook and often really isnt refered to as a style...
when most people think of style they think of wallisch, casabon, etc people who put their own spin on tricks
i don't know about you but that filming style was way more stylely then bobby brown's style. It made it feel like you actually there skiing long with him
i dont know how someone could say he doesnt have style. style is how you move your body and how it flows with tricks, not what you wear, what companies you have segments with, or who you ride for. Everyone has their own style, and that's what makes skiing fun to watch for me. bobby doesnt ski like henrik or casabon, but he's still smooth as hell, he stomps the shit out of everything and is always in control of his body. look at the switch 7 at 1:50 for example. or the bonks on the rainbow rail, flowy as fuck.
anyways, he's a ski jock. not a bad style, just don't prefer it. switch 5 at the end was the illest, but it sucks that it's impossible for him to spin under a 10 on a big jump for most of the time.
i hate the whole term forced. hes hitting a 60 plus foot jump and spinnning around a bunch. of course its forced. your body doesnt do that naturally. just because he doesnt intentionally land backseat and let his head flop to the side doesnt make it forced.
don't get me wrong, bobby brown is good at skiing skill wise and he's probably going to win a lot of competitions because of it.
but in that edit all i could picture was someone trying to get a high
score in a video game...on skis in real life. very very generic style
and I would have no idea who he was if i saw him on the mountain unless
someone told me that it was bobby brown. style should be unique to the person themselves.
i also don't think bobby brown should try to have his own unique style because he's a competition skier so it all comes down to technique not swagger.
