HAHAHAHHA come on NS! we all make fun of the "un-educated" on NSG yet some people are defending 288
Order of operations: PEMDAS
Parenthesis
Exponent
Multiplication/Division but multiplication comes first if possible
Addition/Subtraction but addition comes first if possible

1. (9+3)= 12 P
2. 2(12)= 24
3. 48/12= 2

as explained in the other thread by someone else:

we can all agree that it is 48/2(12)

you can divide something by multiplying it's reciprocal or inverse. so that would make 48/0.5(12)

48 x 0.5 is 24.

24 x 12 is 288, retards. also cannot tell if troll or just really stupid

So, like someone said above me:

48/2(12)

If you are naive, you would think, "Oh! M is first so you must multiply before you divide!" Well, you're an idiot. Multiplication~Division. So, since we read left to right, and in the case of Multiplication/Subtraction in the acronym, you go in order of which happens first going from left-right, we would divide first, giving us:
24(12)

^^ (42/2=24, ya' dig?)

So, now we are left with 24(12) or 24*12 or 24x12. They all equal 288.

OP, go ask your math teacher. If he/she says it equals 2, he/she needs to retire.
