Hey NS! We're hiring three editorial interns for this summer and fall. As an intern, you'll help us put together the 40th volume of Powder magazine, write for the web, and live and love Southern California (Mammoth is open till July 4th and we're right by da beach, boy!). Powder Magazine has three editorial internship openings for the Summer and Fall. To be eligible you must be receiving college credit for your hours. Work schedule is flexible. Please send resume and cover letter tomike@powder.com for consideration.

Editorial Intern
The Editorial Intern will assist the editorial staff on Volume 40 of Powder Magazine. Candidates should have strong writing and fact checking skills. This position is in San Clemente, California. To apply please send a resume and a one-page cover letter explaining why you’d be a good fit for the position. Creativity and humor are a plus.

Shitty magazines will die and quality print will live...  print is far from dead.

An internship at Powder is a great opportunity and should not be taken lightly.  Internships are the key to getting a foot in the door.  Many careers in the ski industry were started with a Powder internship, including The Ski Journal’s own photo editor, Grant Gunderson.

I don't mind at all. In my first year at the magazine I'd estimate around 80-100 applications come in. Why the large range? Some applications are simply, "Hire me or give me stickers."

We have plenty of applicants hungry for the position without offering it up on NS. However, this is where I got my start and it's a fun way to give back to the community.

Hope to see a few of you this summer, fall, next summer, next fall, and beyond!

Rogge, because this is something that interests me in the future as I enter my Senior year in college, you do not offer living solutions or pay any relocation fees?
I would be solely responsible for living expenses? That's the only part that somewhat confused me.

Rogge is a hack. Never received so much as an email back from these guys. Hopefully it doesn't reflect Powder as a whole because its such a sick magazine. Its just rude when you're waiting around to see if you got the internship or not.

Welcome to the real world. When you apply for a position that is being heavily pursued by a large number of people, you may not always get a rejection notice.

If you are upset you heard nothing at all, I must assume that your application did not exceed their first expectations enough to warrant further review. Additionally, it tells me that you likely did not engage in enough followup contact. Shoot off an email first. If no response, pick up the phone.

It's your future. You need to make yourself recognized, and it seems that your application, resume and cover letter did not do that. Just remember that the line between pestering and persisting is a very fine one.

Im bummed I didnt get a rejection letter either. Im writing it off as I think my 8th grade spelling and grammer skills led to my ap being filed iin the circular filing cabinet.

I've worked a collection of jobs.
2-3 professional, the rest not so much.
Every job I've landed is from follow-up. It's good to learn now with an internship you probably wouldn't receive to begin with.

Maybe POWDER sent him to do a story about beach jibbin on sand or costa rican  canapy zipline wire slides

Im hoping hes in bariloche Skin POWDER and summits a story involving said POWDER in the magazine called POWDER

P.S. Another round of interns will be hired next summer. And the summer after that one and the summer after that one and... you get the idea. I apologize for not responding in a timely manner but in my defense, if I did send a rejection letter to every application, I wouldn't have time to write about grass skiing or do anything for that matter. If it's any consolation, I was rejected from quite a few internships before landing a great one at a local newspaper. If you're interested in writing for Powder, send me something. We publish quite a few pieces from writers outside of the Powder masthead. In fact, the 'Revelations' piece in the current issue was sent to DT in an envelope.

And one more thing, see you at IF3. If I didn't send you a response back, come say hello, introduce yourself, and tell me how shitty of a person I am. It'll be funny.
