Florida residents? if you're out there

I posted this in regionals, but yeah who checks them.


I am considering moving somewhere new and I'd like that place to be Florida. Yes, I realize I can't ski in Florida. I am 23 years old, a finance/business major, and I desperately need a change and to get out of the funk i'm in at this odd stage of my life and I've been considering this for awhile now.

I need help with recommendations of places that are good for a recent college grad to live and find work. Obviously corporate work is fine with me, so cities like tampa or wherever are good if they have a good job scene. It would be nice to not be surrounded with old retirees as well.


If any of you guys live in FL or can give me some insight, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch

i live in brooksville which is about 30 min north of Tampa. There are so many places to find rent and shit. there are great business schools like UT and USF. im just not sure why someone would come to this state. im tryin to do the exact opposite of what you are by gettin the fuck out here and goin to where there is skiing. but definitely tampa/st.pete is business central.

Only advice I could give is live somewhere where it is not a long drive to the keys, it's frickin gorgeous down there.

my buddy was a finance major and went down to florida to get out of the cold weather, it took him a longggg time (over a year) to get a job down there because there is soo little jobs...he finally got a good entry level job in the budget department of a hospital but that was only because his g/f knew someone that worked there

the plus side of moving to florida is that the real estate market is complete shit and you can rent/buy for almost nothing..he just bought a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath with in ground pool for 165,000 in gated community..money goes sooo far down there

as long as you have your education and have business experience you wont really have too much trouble finding a job in the business district

im at school in fort myers/naples, its a super nice area, i have a ton of fun down here, and i went from skiing 60+ days a year to 5 in the last two, and i am cool with it.  as long as you can handle no snow and hot summers south fl is tighttt!

yeah but fort myers beach is poppin, by my school in north naples/south fort its alright a few clubs n shit if youre into that lots of places to go out n drink and have a good time.

and to dukes, i didnt like it at first, but i have kinda moved on from skiing n onto other things which are more important in my life at this point, and the area im in isnt a hick place like the rest of fl, its a nice area with a ton of fun shit to do, miami is 2 hours, disney 3.5 or less, tampa 2, ft laud 2, everywhere is pretty close within fl.

Miami!
You dont have to live on Ocean Drive but Miami is great. I have a friend who lives down there and he loves it. The Coconut Grove area is a good place to live.

we're in opposite climates though. I live in New Jersey (hate if you must) right now and winter lasts forever and it gets cold as shit and snows a lot. Which is great and all, but i'm just not into that anymore at all and I don't want to deal with it. A lot of things in my life have changed and I'd like to refresh things and move somewhere in FL. I feel like i'd be happier there and i'm pretty unhappy here so I want to give it a shot since i'm still young.


Thanks for the advice guys, I'll have to check out the job opportunities in the places you've alll listed and go from there

after 19 years here its unbearable. disney and universal are cool but it gets old. and not only that all the guidos and "my new haircut" people all come down here and make it 1000000000000000000Xs worse. the only thing that is good is the college education. high school and below can be completed by a kid with down syndrome

PM me about anything you need info or advice on whenever it comes up. I lived in boulder and worked in longmont, but i knew thornton, westminster, louisville and longmont decently well too
