and if you love playing football, play football.
I ran D1 track for all 4 years in college and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was recruited out of high school to a top academic school and worked my butt of on the track, in the weight room, and in the class room and had a blast. I finished college with a 3.4 gpa, landed a great job, made some great friends, qualified for NCAAs as a long jumper and triple jumper, and would not trade it for anything.
Don't be worried about time management. I had more than enough time to dedicate 20+ hours a week to track, work multiple part time jobs, party with my friends, and keep it together in the classroom. If you are dedicated and love what you do, you won't mind spending the time doing it. If you can balance what you love to do, you will have no problems getting a job
