Artsy Video Critique

Just finished our season edit. I know we aren't that good but I tried to do some artsy stuff with the video. I really like editing and am working hard to get better. Maybe considering it for a college option.Anyways heres the URL

I believe I already have seen this video in another thread you made.   Same as last time tho, try to shoot in better light, i know it isnt always possible, try to use color correct, and have the music flow more with the edit.  The words and lifestyle at the beginning are unneeded, just too much.  Also when you are hitting rails and boxes try to get more speed so your tricks look smoother and bigger, and when you hit jumps try to get more pop so those tricks look bigger, but you guys are solid riders and should be throwin some really good edits out if you keep improving, keep it up!

If thats you're first edit its decent dude, just work on colours, and maybe remove some stuff in the intro, like random shots of bird houses, incorporate things that are relevant to your edit and aesthetically pleasing

Don't do this, when you call it "artsy" your building up a pre conceived idea of "artsy" edits these day, its better to just call it was ski edit, then the "artsy" bits it the beginning is just the intro. I thought it was good btw, just watch your attitude around here. When you first start making edits you have to be humble when asking for feedback and accept any negative feedback you don't like, not everyone is going to like your vid as much as you do, but thats ok because its all about having fun and progressing at a rate that feels good to yourself, ns is just here to help with the progression part

Not bad, I appreciate the experimentation with different use of auto color/b&w/saturation.... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The intro I though was well done. It had no relevance to the edit, so it's a little strange. The shots were artsy and looked professional, but it's true what they say about picking your days to shoot. The sun is your friend.
Pick your usable shots carefully. Like, don't let the first shot of skiing be a so-so switch 1 because it sets the wrong tone for the edit. Luckily there were some shots that made up for it and set the tone back on track. But also be careful about shaky camera. No audience member feels good when they watch a shaky shot..only if the trick is good enough to make up for it. But even then, put your camera on a tripod and attach weights to the bottom of it so you can get a semi-flowing shot. Even the still shots, secure the camera in some way.
Good stuff man, keep it up and keep editing.
