Questions about fulltilt 102mm last boots, the Booter and the highfive

I am going to be in the market for some new boots and honestly fulltilt's seem like a good idea so I don't have any more shin bang days off after hitting a big drop. The only thing is they only make 2 mens boots that are a 102mm last so even though I would love to get a pair of the seth's or the confilcts a 99mm last isin't wide enough so I am wondering how the booter handles big drops and steep fast lines? Is it a park only boot or is it stiff enough to hit the entire mountain? Or should I consider the high five? Also think I could push out the confilct far enough to be 101-102mm last? And could I get a stiffer toung for the booters to stiffen them up?

the booter is a poorly built boot and would not handle big mountain very well. Look into a wider stiffer boot, in other words go to a bootfitter

I was just wondering, I ski technica diablo magmas and was looking at the new technica agent BC's but they are pricy and I'm not a big fan of the flip switch for walking although it might be nice for hiking sometimes it seems more like a gimick to me. I was thinking on trying on some full tils but I just found that they are owned by K2 so I'm thinking about sticking with technica now. The full tilts sound nice because after hitting a big cliff in the lake chutes at breck I had boot bang and had to loosen the boots a bit to ski the next day so no boot bang sounds great.

Also, candyman, are you suggestion a dalbello axion 8,10, or a 12? I was looking for last size on these and can't find it on their site. I am guessing they are around 102mm since it says they are wider. And the axion 8 or 10 would be what I would lean towards, thanks for the suggestion, I'm going to check them out.

For the record, FTs are made in Italy just like Tecnica. Just because they are owned by K2 doesn't mean they are made in China or of lesser quality. Every company makes lower end boots- just make sure you buy a boot that has the right plastic characteristics you are looking for, which the Booter and High Five probably do not.

Also, no boot will cure shin bang. Only a boot that fits you properly will be your best guard against shin bang.

I don't know about that, a boot that has a softer tounge or a softer foward flex will deffinately help in the boot bang department. I have my technicas set to be as flexable as possible, I even have my canting screws set back.  And while I don't get shin bang often, it would be nice if the toung would flex a bit more so when I do hit something really big I don't pay the price the next day. And I am glad to hear FT's are not made in china, suprisingly since K2 own's them. Still can't say I'm a K2 fan so I'm a little turned off but atleast they won't have problems like salomon and boots falling apart the second day someone puts them on. I wish they made a 102mm last seth full tilt boot sign me up for a pair.

The best boot is one that fits your foot shape, but also your leg shape and ankle flexibility and weight range. A boot that flexes too much for your given flexibility and weight will create more problems than it solves. Finding the correct amount of flex for your subjective build is what will aid against shin bang. Both too soft and too stiff are problematic. In fact, sometimes a stiffer boot cures shin bang for certain skiers. It all depends on what matches what you need.

To bad there isin't a boot demo day somewhere here in colorado. I honestly don't have alot of options, technica, salomon, and that's about it and I'm not putting anything that says salomon on my feet. I guess I could check out some of the local shops, maybe get on surefoot's machine to check my options but for 102mm last for a wider foot with a higher longer calf there a very few options.
