How strict were your parents when you first got your license? Did they let you drive pretty much whenever and wherever you wanted, or did they have lots of restrictions? I'm getting mine soon, and my fag parents are making me follow the six month rule, which, in California, states that I cannot have another person under 18 in the car for the first six months that I have my license. And that pisses me off, because most people around here pay no attention whatsoever to that rule. Anyone else have shitty rules like that?

well in north carolina we are only allowed to drive until 9 at night for the first 6 months. We are also only allowed 1 person that is not a family member under the age of 18.

As far as my parents, they said get a ticket and you cant drive anymore. But thats about it

My parents didnt do shit. I got a speeding ticket the second day I had my license, and I had my friend in the car with me. The cop didnt do anything about the 6 month rule. My parents were pretty chill with it, they just made me pay it off.

when i got my full license, i was allowd one person i nthe car, but i had to ask my parents permission first. And I had strict curfew when with the car. Like 11 o'clock or something.

I went out the same day I got it at night with hardcore rain. It wasn't my parents with the problem, it was my friends parents that wouldn't let them drive with me.

I have that exact same rule in effect in montana, except it aint a law, my parents just do it. and i cant have radio for 3 months. fucking gay.

^haha, my teacher was a pothead too. we just had play-doh fights. such a fun class for being in the summer.

I'm getting my license at the end of this month, and I'll have to wait those 6 months too. stupid rule, but not as bad as insurance. It costs me $1,000 just for the first year. I don't want to get my licence for that much money. I won't drive much, not even to school, cause my mom works there.

my parents are really great with that, as long as they don't need the car I can take it anywhere, i just tell them i'm going and come back at around 3 in the morning.

My mom always let me do whatever I wanted... she was pretty chill about the whole driving thing, unless I was driving her car, then she was scared I'd dent it or something because it's new and nice. My 95 Legacy isn't exactly a 'luxury' car though... and it's all dented anyway because one of my friends decided to jump all over it after I stole his pants while camping and duct taped them to a tree (never leave your pants outside your sleeping bag), and then put 'clam juice' in his pancakes and water bottle (clam juice is real, look in your local supermarket).

I never really paid attention to the laws about not carrying anyone and being off the roads by 1:00... and I never got caught by the police or anything. I actually got stopped for the first time about a week ago going 18 over, but the cop just said 'slow down' and left... he was a pretty good cop to get stopped by.

Just don't drive drunk and don't be retarded and hit stuff...

yeah, my parents thought that whole rule was a crock of shit, so they let me break it, especially because i had those privileges before, but since they made the law retroactive, i had to get all my rights revoked. only thing, my parents are obsessed with not getting sued, so i had to be careful who i drove around.

Heh, Ive been driving for few years. Your parents' trying to teach you and make sure you dont turn into a dumbass behind the wheel. Having the license to drive is a priviledge, not a right. You cant follow the law, they suspend your license, and even impound the vehicle in some cases.

ya in cT they have a similar kind of rule except it is a little stricter and i don't think there is any curfew invovled in it. Im getting my liscence tomorrow hopefully so im gonna have to find out exactly what the law entails. the way i see it, cops are not gonna pull you over for a violation of this law. So just don't do anything else like excessivly speed or drive drunk and you will be ok

^in ct, you can't drive anyone in the first 3 months you have your lisense. then after 3 months, you can drive someone of your immediate family. after 6 months, you can drive anyone. i had a pothead drivers ed teacher also

i couldnt pick up a friend the first night i got my liscense but that was about it i drove with friends the next night till like 11...your rules are pretty dumb

i have my 3rd and final chance at my drive test thursday. first time i was super nervious and ended up going like 10 mph below the speed limit (which is an auto fail) and 2nd time i drove perfect, but at the very end the guy decided to be a dick and fail me. if they fail me this lat time, i swear i'm gonna go postal and run down as many dmv employees as possible.

When I got my license my parents let me drive their car as long as I was respectful and careful with their car and also had a 11 or 12 a clock curfew. Looking back at it now, it sucked being that young.
